“I won’t let you hurt Amelia!”

I grabbed him by the throat, my fangs gleaming as I brought him to his knees. The raw fury I felt over the loss of Alma, the betrayal, the manipulation, all of it poured into that moment.

“This isn’t over, someone worse than me is coming and you will definitely die!” Orson spat.

With a single, brutal motion, I ripped his heart from his chest. His eyes widened, shock and pain flashing across his face as his body crumpled to the floor, dead before he could even scream.

“What’s going on?” Amelia asked, looking confused.

The other vampires who had been working with Orson fell just as quickly, their bodies crumpling like ragdolls, the sound of their death echoing in the room.

“It seems like Orson was the one that converted them into vampires and used some kind of black magic to bind them, hence them dying immediately after he was killed.”

With a heavy breath, I turned to Finn, who was still standing by Amelia’s side. His expression was torn between anger and relief, his gaze flickering to me with unspoken gratitude.

“We’re getting out of here,” I said, my voice calm but firm. “I’ll take Amelia to a safe house. Sienna will drive with my men to the safe house.”

Finn didn’t hesitate. His eyes softened as he looked at Amelia, but I could see the urgency in his movements as he gently lifted her in his arms.

“Let’s move,” I said, my voice colder now, knowing we couldn’t stay here for long. I turned to my men, giving them the order to escort Sienna to one of my safe houses.

We arrived at the hidden safe house, a massive estate with modern and classic architecture, surrounded by thick trees and high stone walls for complete privacy.

“Oh my…” Sienna muttered; voice was soft but filled with awe as she spoke.

"This place… it’s huge," Amelia murmured, her eyes taking in every detail. "Look at the stone walls, the way the windows catch the light… it feels like something out of a movie." She glanced at me, her voice picking up a bit of concern. "Is this really a safe house? Are you sure we are safe here?"

“We’re safe here,” I assured her, my voice low, but full of determination. "We’ll figure everything else out later, Amelia."

I led Finn and Amelia down a series of halls until we reached their rooms. Amelia’s eyes were still wide from taking in the grandeur of the house, but I could see her fatigue starting to settle in.

"Amelia this will be your room and Sienna yours is opposite, I figured that you both might want to stay close to each other" I said, opening a door to a spacious, well-appointed bedroom. The bed was massive, and soft light filtered through the large windows, casting a warm glow on the elegant furnishings.

“You are absolutely right…” Sienna said as she immediately entered are own well decorated bedroom.

"This place is unreal," Amelia whispered. "How... how is this a safe house?"

"Things are different here," I replied, keeping my voice steady.

"Thank you, Aidan. For everything," Amelia said.

I gave a short nod before turning to Finn.

"Your room is down the hall, follow me," I said as I led him to his room.

“Thank you, Aidan, I’m glad that we temporarily buried the hatchet for Amelia’s safety.”

“Likewise, I’ll check in with Julian and the security. Make sure we’re fully covered."

As I left the room, I saw Julian, my trusted assistant and right-hand man, arriving at the entrance with more than twenty vampires, each of them silently moving with an air of professionalism.

"Julian," I called out as I approached him. "Everything in place?"

"Everything is secure, sir," he replied, his sharp gaze scanning the surroundings. "The perimeter’s clear, and we’ve placed surveillance systems around the entire property. No one will get close without us knowing."

I nodded, relieved but still cautious.

"Good. I want no mistakes here. Make sure the perimeter is guarded, and the security systems are functioning properly. We’ve had enough close calls already."
