“Why did you need me here if you already had one of your goons watching them? I could be binge watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Netflix right now.”

“I needed to test your loyalty. And now I know I can trust you,” he laughed. “Oh, and heads up, I’m on my way there to shake things up, so if I were you, I’d make myself scarce, just in case things get…bloody.”

“Alex, you can’t. There’s too many innocent people here.”

“Collateral damage isn’t my concern in the grand scheme of things. I want Archer, and now’s the perfect time while he’s distracted by pussy.”

“God, Alex.” I glanced around and realized how far away from the party I had wandered.

“I’ll see you soon, baby sister,” he said before hanging up.

I threw my phone back into my purse. My brother was about to commit mass murder, and I knew there would be casualties. Alex didn’t care who got hurt as long as he accomplished whatever fucked up goal he was headed toward.

I needed to do something.

Archer had brought his latest conquest to the bonfire. I took pleasure in getting under his skin and pushing his boundaries, a constant game we played. Our roles were pre-determined as the offspring of the current patriarchy in The Brotherhood. We lived out our deepest, darkest fantasies through college, with the understanding that once our fathers died or stepped down from their positions as top leaders of The Brotherhood, we would assume their roles. There were opportunities for us to advance into other advantageous positions of authority, separate from our fathers’, but that depended on the needs of The Brotherhood. We had all become the enforcers of our fathers’ dictatorship.

Archer played the good little soldier, exploiting and killing whatever target his father gave him. His target was Mila Grey, an innocent girl caught up in the political feud between her father, Winston Grey, and Archer’s father, Cassian King.

Cassian King was ruthless and devoted to ensuring The Brotherhood remained the top dog in New York City. He worked closely with my father, Asher Montgomery, and Theo’s father, Thane West, to strategize and maintain control over variousaspects of city affairs. Currently, Cassian King was involved in the political side of things. At the same time, my father held a high position in law enforcement as the police commissioner; Thane West handled legal and financial matters as the resident lawyer and accountant. There wasn’t a profession or office in NYC that one of our fathers or fellow brothers hadn’t infiltrated. It’s how we had stayed on top for so long.

Our connections allowed us to smuggle weapons in and out of the city and carry out retaliatory actions against rival gangs without fear of arrest. And if one of us did get put behind bars, we knew we had brothers on the inside who would get the charges dropped through legal loopholes, falsifying evidence, cleaning up evidence, or making witnesses disappear.

The life of a criminal was my calling. The chaos and danger that came with it were like adrenaline coursing through my veins. I was not the type that cared to be in law enforcement. Truth be told, I was more inclined to break the law than uphold it. My parents were dead set on me finding a nice girl with a flawless past to help settle me down and then spend my life punching in and out of work, catching bad guys. I had no interest in that mundane existence. I couldn’t fathom how they could be happy with monogamy and a job where you wore a suit.

Fuck that.

I was good with fucking my way through New York City and cracking skulls together whenever the need arose, or even if it didn’t. Violence and anger ran thick in my blood, and I reveled in it.

Then there was Archer, one of my partners in crime. He was drawn to death and destruction like a moth to a flame—we all were. And yet, since he met Mila, something changed within him, but he didn’t see it yet. We used to trade girls like Pokémon cards, but since hislittle rabbitmade her appearance,he’d focused on her and her only. She had tamed the beast inside of him.

I smirked at the thought. I never believed anyone could do it. But here he was, devoted to one woman, while I continued to roam free.

I was uncollared and doing just fine.

Even though Maddie was sitting on my lap, I could only think about Haven. That seductive siren had captured my attention from the very first moment I saw her green eyes staring back at me in the strip club.

“What is it, baby?” Maddie’s whiny voice bled into my brain.

I shake my head and give her my attention. “Nothing. Take your clothes off.”

“Ooh, you bad boy. You want to fuck me in front of everyone?”

“Shut the fuck up, Maddie, and do what you’re good at.”

“Fine, you ole grump,” she feigned a dramatic pout. But she obliged.

Everyone was too drunk to notice or care that my date was undressing right in front of them. Maddie was hot, sure, if you liked that ‘fake tit, blonde bimbo’ thing, which I wouldn’t exactly saywasn’tmy type. But I couldn’t see anything but Haven.

I pulled out my cock and stroked it, thinking about her. Maddie was too stupid to realize that it wasn’t her naked in front of me that got me hard. It was thinking about Haven pleasuring herself with her toys. The way her come tasted on the toy I pocketed.

I groaned as Maddie sank onto my dick. She was making all of these weird porn star noises that were almost a boner killer. So, I closed my eyes and pictured Haven. I pictured her on her knees, her perfect round ass facing me. I could see how wet she was as her arousal leaked out of her tight, pink pussy.
