Kai raised his eyebrow, a puzzled look on his face. “No, we don’t.”

“Yes, we do. My brother knows about you. His little gnats have been following me around, and he said if I don’t do everything he tells me to do, he’s going to kill you.”

Kai laughed loudly, but stopped when he saw the tears in my eyes. “You’re serious?”

“I just don’t see how we can keep doing whatever this is without him knowing. And I’m not gambling with your life anymore. I couldn’t live with myself if you got hurt or killed because of me. I’m tired of having blood on my hands.”

“I don’t gamble on things I can’t win, Haven,” he replied.

“That’s what you don’t understand. You’re not listening to me.” I threw up my hands in frustration. “This isn’t a game, Kai. People close to me die. I’m cursed.”

“That’s life, Haven. If I lose my life because I’m buried deep inside of you each night, then when I make it to Hell, I’ll tell the devil how I experienced the closest thing to Heaven.”

“You really believe that, don’t you?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper.

Kai smirked, looking amused by my frustration. “Life is short, and if we’re going to spend it hiding in shadows and fear, then we’re just letting your brother win.”

“My brother never loses. He will destroy everything I care about. He doesn’t care about the body count or the destruction; as long as he has complete and total power and control, that’s all he sees. Kai, please don’t ask me to keep playing this game with you.”

“I understand your fear, Haven,” he said softly, cupping my face in his hands. “But you’re mine, and I’m not letting you go.”

“What if I don’t want to belong to you?” I challenged him.

“You can think you don’t want to belong to me, but you forget I’m not one of your pathetic, limp-dick admirers who gets off on watching you.”

“You’re not.”

“You belong to me, sweet girl,” he growled. “From the moment you screamed my name as you shattered on my cock, you were mine. Your body, mind, and soul willingly chose me.” His words dripped with possessiveness and a dangerous hunger as he tightened his grip on my waist.

“Look, the sex is great…more than great, but I can’t do this anymore,” I sighed, knowing that he wouldn’t change his mind.

Kai’s eyes flashed with a warning, a storm brewing behind his irises. “You can try to deny it, but you know the truth. You crave me just as much as I crave you.”

His fingers traced invisible lines on my skin, flickering between my neck, down my arm, and back up to my face. The heat from his touch was intense, yet I couldn’t bring myself to pull away. It was as though a part of myself had been drawn to him, bound to him, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t extricate myself from the tether that connected us.

I tried to look away and distance myself from the truth of his words, but my body betrayed me. His fingers danced and coaxed a response from my skin that I couldn’t contain. A whimper escaped my lips as his touch sent shivers down my spine, pooling between my legs.

Kai's expression remained unreadable as he leaned closer, his breath hot against my forehead, "I won't let you go, Haven. You know what I'm capable of. I'll tear this world apart to keep you."

Swallowing hard, I whispered, "Who are you, Kai?"

His eyes darkened, the storm fully taking hold in their depths. "I am a force of nature, Haven. I am chaos, love, and pain. I am both your savior and your destroyer.” His gaze never wavered as he slowly traced the outline of my face, his fingers soft yet firm. "I'm the storm that rages within you, the fire that burns deep within your soul. I am the darkness that surrounds us, the fear that keeps us hidden, and the hope that keeps us alive. I am the silence that echoes in your heart, the secrets that linger on your lips, and the pain that your eyes hide. Haven, I am everything and nothing at the same time. I am the answer to your every need and the reason for your deepest fears.”

“And you,” I began softly, “are the only thing standing between my salvation and my destruction.”

“You are a part of me, and I will protect you with everything I have. I will burn the world for you.”

His words carried a sense of finality, leaving no room for argument. Despite the fear in me, I knew he was something to lean against, something violent, tragic, and unmoving. He offered me chaos, rebellion, and protection from the world I was trapped in.

At that moment, I felt the tug of submission, the desire to give in to his power and let him consume me. It was a strange and unfamiliar feeling, one I never thought possible. But there was no denying the truth in his words—he was a force to be reckoned with, a force that could either save me or destroy me.

As his lips met mine, it was like a bolt of lightning striking through my veins. I wrapped my hands around his neck, savoring how his lips felt on mine.

“Why don’t we bounce so I can take this dress off of you, piece by piece, and show you how much I want you,” he breathed against my lips.

“We can’t. My brother is up to something. You need to help Archer keep an eye on Mila.”

“There’s plenty of guards here. It’s nothing Archer and Theo can’t handle. Even your brother is not stupid enough to try something in front of the most important people in the city.”
