Page 41 of The Devil's Hunt

The Devil's Hunt was upon us, and it was time for me to see what truly hid inside her soul.

She was ready.

I hadn't planned on drugging her and bringing her to the manor so early. But this way was better.

For her.

For me.

For The Brotherhood.

The Brotherhood demands obedience.

And my rabbit was the perfect offering.

We were facing too many threats, and we needed strong queens at our side to provide for us.

I knew she was strong enough to make it through this.

But she had to believe she was too.

She’d have to dig deep into the darkest part of her, where the light didn’t touch, and let her demon carry her through.

If not, she wouldn’t survive and didn’t deserve her place at my side.

The Devil was hungry, and I was his vessel.

I was the conduit for his power, the vessel for his control.

The Hunt would break her, mold her, and shape her into the Queen she was always meant to be.

I would show her the darkness within herself, and together, we would embrace it, for it was the source of our strength and our salvation.

She would fear nothing and desire everything.

She would take control of the world or burn it to ashes.

The blood that coursed through her veins was the same blood that flowed through mine, binding us in a contract as ancient as time itself.

And now, darkness was calling. I would take her there, to the place where sin and salvation met. There, she would become the queen she was always meant to be.

MILA

My head hurt.

Pain shot through my skull like a sharp knife being driven into my brain. It felt like a fog was swirling around my mind, preventing me from fully awakening. I struggled to move my arms, but they were weighed down, and there was something wrapped around my wrists, keeping them tight against each other.

Glimmers of orange light blinded me as I forced my eyes open, blinking frantically to clear the haze.

Once.

Twice.

Three times to rid the cloud of confusion, and when my eyes finally focused, I was met with a terrifying reality.
