“Oh, I’m finding lots.” I let out a little snort of laughter. “I just can’t get any of the landlords or rental agencies to give me the time of day. I’ve put in dozens of applications, handed in all the info they want, and not a single place has called me back or contacted me to even let me see the place.”

“Don’t stress about it.” He patted my knee. “I’m in no rush for you to move out.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. If you find something, that’s great. But don’t worry if you don’t. You can stay as long as you need to.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, it’s no problem.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat. “Thanks.”

He smiled, and this time it was genuine. “You’re not so bad when you’re not being a dick.”

I snorted. “And you’re not so bad when you’re not being an asshole.”

“I should probably get to bed,” he said reluctantly.

“Yeah, me too.” I stood. “It’s late.”

“Yeah, it is.” He offered me a soft smile. “Night.”

“Night.” I gave him an awkward wave and hurried out of the room.

“All set?” Dex asked when I met him in his room on Friday night.

Nodding, I sat next to him on the bed.

“Are you okay?” He studied me closely. “We don’t have to do this tonight if you’re not feeling it.”

“I’m fine.” I shot him a weak smile. “Just flipping headspaces again.”

He pursed his lips.

“I’m fine,” I repeated, a little too touched by his concern.

“Did you bring your phone?”

I pulled it out of my pocket and handed it to him.

He put it on the end table next to his.

“Do you remember the plan for tonight?”

I nodded.

“Still good with it, or is there anything you want to change?”

“It’s still good.” I put my hand on his thigh and gave it a squeeze. “I’m supposed to be the nervous one here. You’re stealing my thunder.”

He laughed and covered my hand with his. “I don’t know why. It’s not like we haven’t done this before.” He squeezed my hand. “Ready to get started?”

“Yeah.”

He squeezed my hand one more time, then let go and logged into his cam account so he could get things started.

“There.” He sat back. “I sent out the email notification. Hopefully we won’t have to wait long before people tune in.”
