Kit curls up over me, breathing heavily into my ear. I feel surrounded, comforted, complete.
And then he bites down on the skin behind my ear. I let out a shout. Kit shoves his palm against my mouth and, by instinct, I open my mouth and bite down.
The warm feeling of Kit’s release squirts into me, and I lose myself in another toe-curling orgasm. Kit lets out a muffled groan and thrusts into me twice more, draining himself, before his whole body stiffens and jerks.
“Knot, shit.”
“Do it!” I shout.
Kit slams his knot home, and I scream, the world flashing black and white. The pain becomes pleasure becomes pain. I’m in a maelstrom of feelings, all tied up and twisted, and all I can do is hold on.
I collapse, and Kit follows me down, licking the bite. His arms come around, and his fingers thread with mine. I just lie there with him in me, on me. Safe.
And inside is a small, warm, indistinct glow of an alpha. I have a bond.
Bethany sits opposite meand fidgets. The big, purple-haired alpha named Saint puts a hand on her knee, and she stops immediately, turning to him gratefully.
I still don’t like her at all, but Raider has an arm over my shoulder, and Wren’s thigh is pressed against mine.
Bethany looks at Raider long enough to make me hiss low under my breath. The emo alpha, whose name is Crow, smiles like he’s amused by my reaction. Hunter, the brunette, looks bored. He can be bored elsewhere.
They look good together, these four. I want them gone.
“First off, Raider, I want to thank you for hearing me out.”
Raider is sitting so still. He loves her. I can almost feel it in the air, but he doesn’t trust her.
And her alphas are wary of him.
Kit and Callan also seem a bit standoffish, too.
This whole dynamic is unpleasant and makes my skin crawl.
“I want us to go back to the way we were before.”
Raider looks away. “That’s not possible.”
“Please, Raider. I’m sorry, I want to make it up to you.”
Raider sits forward and removes his arm from around me, only to grab my hand.
If he needs my strength, it’s his.
“You left. You left after Kelly left. Our parents were grieving. And you disappeared without a word. We didn’t know if you were dead or alive. Did you think there would be no consequences? Of course, things are not going to be the same. You hurt me, you hurt my family, and you hurt my pack.”
Bethany’s eyes well with tears. “Raider… you were like a brother to me.”
“Then maybe you should have treated me like one instead of just vanishing. I’m going to forgive you, I said I would. But it won’t go back to how it was. I’m not the guy you knew.”
“Bethany,” Crow murmurs. “I think this is the best you’re going to get right now. You can earn it back over time.”
She turns to him with shimmering tears in her sapphire eyes.
“I need to know what information you found out,” he interrupts.
Saint leans forward. “There is no one by name or appearance who matches the criteria.”
“What was the criteria?” I ask.
