A sudden knock at the front door made me freeze.

My wolf snarled.

It had to be one of my brothers.

I tried to lock down my hold of the beast in my chest, but his cage was gone. He’d destroyed it, and I hadn’t managed to build it back up.

The person on the other side of the door typed in the code, and it unlocked.

I tensed, trying to grab hold of the wolf, but the effort turned out to be pointless.

Because as soon as the door opened, he was purring.

Purring.

The fucking monster, purring like a damn cat.

I remained frozen in place as the door opened and Nova stepped inside. She carried a bag full of what looked like tattoo stuff over one shoulder, and had a duffel bag in her other hand.

“Hey, fiancé,” she said with a small smile. “You forgot to show up to your tattoo appointment this morning, so I figured I’d bring it to you.” She strode into my bedroom without so much as a backward glance at me.

I stayed tense, waiting for the wolf to try to break free.

He just kept purring.

I finally followed her in, my hands trembling. She still didn’t look back at me, so I just stood in the doorway and watched while she put her equipment on the nightstand.

When she was satisfied that everything was in the right place, she grabbed her duffel bag and carried it into the closet.

I followed her there, remaining silent as she unzipped the bag and moved my clothes around to make space for hers.

My chest burned.

I needed to make her leave—but I wanted her there badly.

I counted the sets of clothing as she put them away.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Six.

Seven.

“You’re staying for a week?” I asked, my voice coming out raspy.

“I’m staying as long as it takes to finish your tattoo,” she said simply. “It’s going to be extremely detailed, so at least a week. I’ll wash my clothes here when I need to. I’ll probably go through heat in the next few days too, so that’ll add a little time.”

My cock throbbed.

She hadn’t offered to find someone else to go through heat with, thankfully. There was a solid chance my wolf would end any man who came anywhere near her.
