“Yeah.” He puts my panties back around my hips and gives me a soft, tender smile which curls around a soft place in my chest. As my heart thumps, I give him a little push back and he watches me with curiosity as I walk to the door, and unlock it.
“Leaving?” he asks.
“Actually, no.” I crook my finger and open the door. “All this…it makes me want to try out a few more positions.”
“I’m going to need a minute,” he says with a grin as he tucks his cock into his boxers and zips up his pants.
“That’s okay, I’ll start without you.”
“Sunshine…” he growls a low warning in his voice.
I turn, and bolt from the den, and his curses bring a smile to my face as he chases me to his bedroom.

NOAH
Something pulls me from my sleep. Something dark and dangerous. Something foreboding. I wake and my chest is thumping as I turn to see Brighton sound asleep beside me. Warm memories rush back, and my cock jumps, remembering the way I took her in the den. Jesus, that was hot. We made it back to my room, but Camryn woke up.
Unfortunately, after I got her back to sleep and was ready for round two with Brighton, I came back here and found Brighton asleep. I didn’t have the heart to wake her and send her back to her wing, so I set my clock early to make sure I was awake before Camryn, so she didn’t find me and Brighton—her ‘new mommy’—in bed together.
Is that what’s weighing heavy on my chest? The fact that Camryn thinks Brighton is going to be her new mommy? While it is, there’s something else bothering me and I can’t quite put my finger on it.
I quietly push from the bed, tug on my boxers and walk to the window. It’s still dark out and cool early morning air seeps in through the panes and chills my body. What the hell is going on inside my brain?
Last night Brighton and I talked, and we came up with a solution to Camryn thinking Brighton was going to be her new mommy. Brighton said she wanted to remain a part of Camryn’s life even when this arrangement was over. It’s a good solution, one we shouldn’t have had to make, but I wasn’t able to keep my big mouth shut and wanted to give my mother her only wish. It might not be ideal or fair to Camryn or Brighton, but I really am glad the woman in my bed wants to remain in Camryn’s life, because I think it will be good for my daughter.
So, what’s niggling at you, dude, that it has you up before the crack of dawn?
“Hey, Noah. Are you okay?”
As soon as I hear Brighton’s soft, sleepy voice, that’s when it hits me. Holy fuck. I spin, and the moonlight shining in through the crack in the curtains lights up her body. While there’s no way she can see my distraught expression with the moon to my back, I’m sure she can pick up on my distress, which is why she’s jolting upward.
“Noah?” her gaze leaves me and darts to the door. “Should I go?”
“No.” I cross the room, and the bed dips as I sit on the edge. “It’s not that.”
“What…what is it?”
“Last night…we didn’t use protection,” I blurt out. “We had sex.” I gulp. “No condom.” Fuck, what the hell was wrong with me? I should have been smarter, should have thought about what a mistake would mean to her. Jesus, I made all kinds of mistakes last night, didn’t I?
She goes quiet, and glances down, as my words hovering in the space around us, squeeze the air out from between our bodies. “Are you…” Her head lifts, and worried eyes meet mine. “You know…clean?”
“Yes, I’m clean,” I assure her quickly, and while I’m positive she is too, it’s the thoughts of an unwanted pregnancy that’s knotting me up inside. “I use protection.” I cup the sides of her face, smoothing her hair back. “I always use protection.”
She crinkles her nose. “Not all the time.”
“I used protection then, too. The condom broke.”
Her brows pull together. “Oh, Noah. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. I love Camryn and have no regrets.”
Her warm hand lands on my cheek. “I can’t believe we didn’t think…” She shakes her head. “I’d never been caught up in the moment like that before.”
While I want to cheer to that, and puff my chest out like a damn neanderthal, we have a serious issue at hand. Brighton doesn’t want kids. Neither did Shayla. “I know you don’t want kids and I can’t have something like this happen, not?—”
“It’s okay, Noah. I’m actually on the pill and it’s been a while since I’ve been with anyone. You know that.”
