“Yeah, you and me both,” Darius sighs.

“No,” Kat smiles. “No, they were just checking out your ass. I mean, look at you. This much alpha meat in one place… that’s sure as hell tempting for any she-wolf who’s not had it for a while, right?”

“Mm… yeah, maybe. I mean who can resist this body, right?” Digby grins as he leans in and kisses Kat. “Still… I’ve only got eyes for one she-wolf, and I’m lookin’ at her right now,” he grins. “God, you’re so beautiful.”

Sizing up Kat’s naked body, he hands her the tee-shirt he just took off, and she quickly slips it over her head and covers herself.

Quickly they all turn around and as they listen, they can hear the not too distant screams and harrowing cries for help. Then there’s silence, followed not long after by the haunting chorus of wolves howling somewhere deep in the greenery behind them.

“Wow… that was sure as hell quick,” Kat smiles. “Those girls must have been damn hungry.”

“Oh, I do hope they took his balls first.” Zak smiles as he wraps his arm around her neck and kisses the top of her head. “So, QT did well?”

“QT did great,” she smiles and kisses him back.

“All right, enough of this.” Darius cocks an eyebrow, watching them. “Let’s get this gear packed up and prepare to get the hell outta here. Bud… I want no evidence left behind—nothing to say we were ever here, you get me?”

“Yeah, right, I uh, I got it. You know I am the best at what I do—blowin’ things up,” he smiles, “just uh, give me twenty minutes. I’ll set some charges, then we’ll raze this hell-hole to the ground. They uh, they won’t ever be able to use this place again.”

“Okay… that sounds good. The rest of you mongrels get this gear packed up. Zak, did you get anything off that tech yet?”

“No, I’m takin’ a look now, but I think I’ll need to get it back to base before I can evaluate everything properly.”

“Okay. But you’re good, yeah?”

“Yeah, I’m good. But um… whatta we gonna do with her?” Zak gestures towards the pregnant woman they freed from the cage earlier. “I mean, we can’t just leave her here.”

“Shit… I forgot about her. Do we know if she’s got any family? A local pack or somewhere she can go back to?”

“I have no idea. I’ll get QT to talk to her—he speaks the lingo better than me.”

“Okay, well you get on it. But Zak, make it quite clear to her, for her own safety, she can’t tell anyone about what went on here—what happened. Tell her we’ll take her somewhere safe where she can be picked up. Oz you okay to give QT a hand with that, make sure she’s good.”

“I should get dressed.” Kat takes a breath as she walks away.

Digby follows. “Hey Kat, are you good?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Oh, I don’t know… I just wish we could have done more. Something—I don’t know, helped to find that pup. But I guess it’s too late now?”

“Yeah, I guess so. Look, at least we saved the others. I mean, they were probably all headed for the same fate, and we stopped that from happenin’ that’s a good thing, right?”

“Yeah, I suppose—just doesn’t feel that way. I’ll be fine, I’m just having a moment. Hey, come here.” She smiles and teasingly biting her lip she wraps her fingers in Digby’s hair. Grabbing him, she pulls him close and they kiss. With a quick glance around—watching the others engaged in various tasks around the camp—she grins. “You know we could… slip away for ten minutes—have a little time to ourselves?”

“Ten minutes…” Digby smiles.

“Yeah, you know… I’ve kinda got this after-shift feelin’ going on. But… you need to do something for me first. You are gonna have to find me a candy bar. I mean, Bud’s gotta have one hidden somewhere, right?” She touches Digby’s cheek and her finger teasingly draws a line around his lips as she tilts her head and flirts with him. “Can you make him give it up for me?”

“Oh, you want a candy bar? So, what do I get if I get you one?”

“Oh, now that would be telling but you find me a candy bar, and I’ll show you.”

She drops another kiss on his lips, her tongue thrusting temptingly against his. Then before he can grab and pull her back, she walks away and disappears into the dark green leaves behind her.

“Fuck… Bud! Bud…” Digby’s smile stretches across his face. “All right guys, listen up. I’m in a hurry here. Who the hell’s got a candy bar? Like I mean, I need onerightnow.”

“Yeah, I got one,” Bud grins. “But it’s gonna cost ya. Fifty bucks!”

“Fifty fuckin’ bucks for a candy bar?” Digby gasps in surprise. “Are you fuckin’ kiddin me?”
