“And make it a top-shelf… Oh and put—”
“Put it on Digby’s tab? Yeah, I know!” he laughs. “You know if you need to talk I’m here.”
“Well, I don’t. and it’s none of your fuckin’ business, so just get back to pouring drinks.”
“Okay… There you go. Enjoy!”
Kat sneers and in one large gulp, she shoots the whiskey back and slams the glass on the counter. “Another!”
“Kat… if you don’t mind me askin’, did somethin’ happen? Do you need me to call someone for ya?”
“No, no, I don’t. Now, just stop with all the damn questions and pour me another fuckin’ chaser.” At the raised brow this earns her, she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. “Sorry. Hudson, I’m sorry, I just… well, I did something stupid and I guess, I need to go fix it. You know what, forget the whiskey, I’ll see you soon.”

Stepping out into the loud booming bass of the main club, Kat takes a moment to calm herself.Fuck! She sighs. What the hell were you fucking thinking?
Looking out across the dance floor, she can now see on the walkway…Alyssa! She’s laughing, her head thrown back, as her body hangs on some suited guy’s shoulder whose arm drapes around her waist. They’re now leaving, and Kat’s eyes follow them as Luna sniffs the air—growling in rage.
She takes a breath and considers it time for her to leave and about to make a move, she’s stopped by the voice behind her.
“Hey… where the hell have you been?” Zak stands beside her, his face concerned as he questions her—a deep wrinkled frown etched on his forehead.
“Nowhere. Well, nowhere that concerns you. I needed some time out.”
“Yeah, yeah, I saw that… I’ll ask you again. Where have you been?”
“And I told you it’s none of your fuckin’ business. Now get out of my way, I’m going home.”
“Kat… Kat, what have you been doin’?” Zak scowls as she angrily barges against him, trying to push him out of the way. He’s too strong and holds her where she is and they stare eye to eye, facing each other.
“Let me go. Zak, I said get out of the way; I need to go home.”
“Okay, all right… Go!” He rubs his hand over his face and sighs as he watches her leave. “Shit!” he groans, “What now?”
“You okay?” Oz questions handing him a drink. “So she say where she was?”
“No, no, she didn’t. But you know what Oz, I hope it’s not where I think, cos, I have a really bad feelin’ in my gut about this. I said she wasn’t good for this team and I’m still thinkin’ the same thing. I just hope Digby gets this idea of bondin’ with her out of his head—for all our sakes. Because I really don’t know where it will lead.”
Chapter 15
Woken abruptly by the loud crashing sound of something breaking, Zak sits up and rubs his head as he checks the time on his phone.
“Fuck!” He curses, realizing it’s only an hour since he got in bed; he sighs and listens to what sounds like cabinet doors banging. “What the fuck is that? Oh, no… Shit! Bud… You know I if you’re eatin’ my fuckin’ cheesecake again then I swear to God I am gonna waterboard your fuckin’ ass!”
Staggering from under the warmth of his quilt, he stumbles around in the darkness. Finding his shorts, he quickly pulls them on and heads toward the source of the noise. It’s coming from the kitchen and as he opens the door, the fluorescent lights dazzle, hurting his eyes. “Digby?” His mouth drops open. “What the fuck are you doin’ in here?”
“You got any whiskey?” the drunken wolf slurs.
“Whiskey? Um… um, yeah. Yeah, Oz has some, somewhere. Why?”
Digby stands up from where he’s crouched searching the cabinet and staggers towards him growling. “I want some you dumbass, that’s why.”
“Oh, my God… You know, I don’t think you need any more.” Zak steps back as the strong smell of liquor hit his nostrils—not mentioning the hard to understand slur of his speech. “Diggs, do you know what time it is? Actually, you know what… I think I’ll make you some coffee? So, is thisstateyou’re in, it somethin’ to do with Kat?”
“I said, I-I want whiskey—not coffee. So… so… w-where is-is it?” He hiccups and sniffs loudly as he slurs his demand.
“Hey, just calm down all right… I’ll try’n find some. Diggs… Hey Diggs, s’down—before you fall the hell down.” Zak pulls the chair from under the table and helps him into it. “Did you speak to Kat?”
