She held her hands out.“You and I both know your grandfather would have wanted you married and settleddown by now. Nora’s a good woman. I’ve seen the details we have on her. She washit hard in life and at a young age, and yet she’s still a nice person. Thestreets didn’t toughen her up too much.”
“Nora’s not ready formarriage. She is not ready to be my wife.”
“Are you ready to be herhusband?” Trudy asked. “Marriage is a two-way partnership, and you both need tobe ready.”
“Go home, Trudy.”
She winked at him, andthen turned to leave. He expected her to go, but he should have known Trudy tohave the last say.
“Just, one thing, I amgoing to keep reminding you that marriage is not a scary concept. I knoweveryone makes it out to be a prison and all the fun is squashed out of it, thatyou’re with the same person you will come to hate, but it is not always likethat. Some marriages, the right ones, married for the right reasons, work. Iknow I love my husband more now than when we were first married. I’d die forhim, and I’d live for him as well. Don’t be afraid of that kind of commitment.”With that, she turned and left.
Gabriel was not thinkingof marriage, even if Trudy was.
Nora was happy keepingthings secret, and he was busy looking into how she lost everything. He had aprivate detective looking into the paperwork.
Her aunt and uncle had avery cushy life off Nora’s father’s work. They owned full copyright and allthat shit. Something didn’t add up, and he was going to get to the bottom ofit. For now, all he had to do was wait a couple of minutes and then he wasgoing to get Nora and leave with her.
He couldn’t help but thinkabout her and how amazing she looked riding his cock. It was like she wasdesigned to be seated on his dick.
His grandfather had onlymade one true request from him, when he gave the money to start this company. When the time was right, he was not to be a dick to the woman who was going tohave his children. Nora wasn’t even pregnant, but he knew the chances increasedevery time he came inside her. He kept promising himself he was going to get acondom, but the moment he was near her, all bets were off. It was like hecouldn’t keep his hands off her, not that he wanted to. She was a dream. Hisdream. The woman he wanted more than anything.
Running a hand down hisface, he didn’t know where any of this was coming from. Maybe he feltresponsible because she was a virgin. He’d never been a woman’s first before. Marriage.Children. Why did Trudy have to bring that shit up? He didn’t need to bethinking about any of that.
While his thoughts hadbeen running wild, the time had passed, and it was now okay for him to headdown to the mail room. Grabbing his jacket, he walked toward his elevator andthen headed toward the mail room.
Marriage? It was not goingto happen. He and Nora were just having fun.
Really? You’re going to keep telling yourself that.
He pressed his fingers tohis eyes, attempting to clear his thoughts. Now was not the time to keepthinking about that.
The elevator doors opened, and he went in search of Nora. This time, he found her at her desk, goingthrough some documents. The moment he was near, she looked up and smiled athim.
“Gabriel,” she said.
“Are you ready to leave?”
“Yeah, yeah, of course.”
He nodded toward her desk.“What’s that?”
“Oh, this is the orderform for all the necessary stationery. I’m the one responsible for making surethe whole building doesn’t run out.” She smiled at him. “I’ve already checkedeverything off, and tomorrow I’ll order what we need. Is everything okay?” sheasked.
Gabriel looked at her, andhe was once again taken aback by how beautiful she was. That smile on her lipsthat wasn’t asking for anything else, and yet she so freely gave it. Not a lotof people were like that.
“Nothing,” he said.“Actually, there’s something I want to ask you.”
“Ask away.”
“Are you on the pill?”
She tilted her head to theside and nodded. “Yeah, I am.”
“And you’ve been taking it?”
“Yeah. I mean, that firsttime, I thought I had left it at my apartment, but when I rummaged through mybag, I take it with me. I took it the moment I saw it.” She frowned, holdingout her bag. “Do you want to check?”
He knew if he checked, itwould look like he didn’t trust her, and that wasn’t the case. He was used topeople manipulating him. Doing their own shit for their own means.
