Page 4 of Surprise Me

Yvaine grinned. "Yeah. If you don't count Mr. Glitterface here being attacked by mermaids for taking the pinata candy from a baby."

The Warrior shrugged and didn't seem the least bit sorry. "I didn't take it. She gave it to me."

Jett narrowed his eyes at the Warriors but dismissed them. "Go home, get some rest."

The men filed out and at the last second Jett realized they were all headed toward the gasthaus. Quickly, under his breath, he warned the last in line. "I'd avoid the common room tonight if I were you. I think you've had enough birthday party for one day."

Mr. Glitterface's eyes went wide and he nodded. "I'm afraid to even ask."

Jett clapped him on the back and returned to the office where Yvaine was stripping. What a perfect way to end a long ass day. He sidled up beside her and reached to help her pull her pants down.

Yvaine held up a hand. "Don't touch me, I think there are ants in my pants. They're like the teensiest dragons burning me everywhere."

She peeled the rest of her clothes off and she was indeed covered in lots of tiny red dots. He touched one and was surprised by its texture. That wasn't skin. He pulled his finger away and the red splotch stuck to him. It glittered when he moved it, not unlike his own scales. "Sweetheart, you don't have ants. This is some kind of plastic or paper or something."

"Fire paper, or paper with teeth. I itch everywhere." Yvaine rubbed at her arms, legs, and stomach and more of the red dots fell to the floor. As they fluttered to the ground, the paper ignited and sparked like miniature fireworks. Only ash hit the floor.

Yvaine sneezed and the rest of the red stuff exploded off of her and shimmered as it too ignited, lighting her up in a twinkling halo. "Whatever it is, I think I'm allergic to it. It must have come out of the pinata."

"Come on then, let's get you into the shower and I'll wash you from head to toe. You can tell me all about the birthday party and I'll tell you about the castle I'm buying you."

The two of them did very little talking in the shower, unless "Don't come until I tell you to," and "more, please, more, yes," counted. Jett also found out exactly how birthday girls liked to use their tongues too.

His lovely mate did seem more tired tonight than usual and he wrapped her up in a big fluffy towel and carried her to their bedroom. She only protested for a second and then curled up in his arms and snored softly. Jett decided to crawl into bed with her for a while and ended up falling asleep too where he dreamed of fiery red glitter and exploding volcano birthday cakes.

Poof the Magic Party Store

"Jett. Wake up. Your tail is poking me."

He snorted awake.Yvaine? Why are we on the floor?

"You broke the bed. What in the world were you dreaming about that you shifted into your dragon?" Yvaine nuzzled her cheek against the scales on his face and the black and red swirls of magic that signaled his shift encircled them both. In another breath, her skin scraped across the scruff on his chin instead of his protective armor.

"Sorry, love. I dreamed you were in danger, I think. It had something to do with a birthday cake on fire."

"Silly dragon. I guess we both have birthdays on the brain. I was dreaming that you were a giant dragon pinata but instead of being filled with candy, you were empty, and I had to fill you up, but nothing would stay in even though I tried all your favorite flavors of M&Ms."

Damn, he fucking loved her so hard. "You have filled me up with your love. I was so empty before you came into my life."

Yvaine got a sloppy grin on her face. "Holy hobknockers, Jett. Have I told you how corny you are and how much I love it?"

Dragon Warriors were not corny. Except maybe when it came to loving their mates. But, shh, don't tell anyone. "I'm not corny, you're horny."

She giggled in a way that went straight to his cock. She was thinking dirty thoughts. "That gives me an idea for a birthday present for you. But how in the world will I know when to give it to you if you don't know your birthday?"

Jett didn't feel inspired by very many things, but Yvaine was one of them. "Let's just make them up. How about if we give each other birthdays, love. You decide when mine is, and I'll pick yours."

Yvaine rubbed her nose against his and smiled. "I love it. I pick, umm, tomorrow."

"Now, now. Wait just a second, don't tell me, let's make it a surprise. I need time to prepare your presents." He wanted to make sure her birthday party was special and not half-assed.

"Oh. Then, kidding." Her eyes flicked back and forth as she considered something. "I have a better idea. Let's throw each other birthday parties and that's how we'll know when it is."

That fit in perfectly with the plan hatching in Jett's mind. "Good. It's a plan. Now we have that settled--" he flipped her on her back and spread her legs with his knees. "Let's celebrate."

And they did. Three times.

The next couple of days Yvaine spent on the phone and wouldn't let him get close enough to hear who she was talking to or what she was saying. But he was half demon and had ways of finding things out. Like hiding in the shadow so she couldn't see him. Unfortunately, she knew him too well and could hide in the veil between their world andTir na Nog. The sneak.
