It had been stolen… by a succubus. Ky had never met one before and now he was faced with two.
One named Portia, who did nothing for him, and his mystery woman. The woman who lit up his own soul shard.
Jakob had told all the Wyverns how his shard had shined when he met Ciara for the first time. Steele’s had done the same.
Could it be possible?
Nah, bro.
Just because the green dragons were finding mates like mad didn’t mean there was one out there for him.
He didn’t want a mate anyway. It would mess up his life in all kinds of ways. Not to mention his footloose and fancy-free love life.
There was no denying that he was beyond attracted to this curvy succubus. All he could think about was getting his mouth reconnected with hers and his hands on that plump ass.
He had no idea what force had come over him that had him wrapping this woman up in his arms and kissing the sweet life out of her. She’d tasted of cinnamon sugar and something erotically spicy.
What the hell was wrong with him?
It had to be the succubus allure. Cage had fallen prey to it. Even more reason to be suspicious.
Portia folded her arms and stared him down. “I don’t know who or what you are, but I’m not telling you nothing about nothing. This is between me and Jada. So back off unless you want to get eaten by demon dragons too.”
Ky let his dragon shimmer to the surface, his blue scales rippled over his skin and his hands transformed into icy blue talons. He blew a puff of frigid air at Portia, and icicles formed in her hair.
“If what you say is true, you’re going to want me around to protect Jada.”
He liked the way her name felt on his tongue. He was going to like a whole lot of the rest of her on his tongue too. Just as soon as she returned Cage’s shard.
Portia smacked at the ice in her hair and Jada stared at him with beautiful wide eyes. They were so dark, almost black, but rimmed with blue. He could get lost in those eyes.
She glanced down at his talons and gulped. “You’re a dragon.”
Every wise-mind part of him said to be guarded, mistrustful of this pretty female demon. But, he could be wary and flirt at the same time. He winked at her. “I know.”
Portia smacked him in the arm with an icicle. “Then why haven’t you been here fighting the demon dragons. Isn’t that your fucking job?”
“This is only the second sighting of them in the eastern United States.” He wasn’t about to tell them he and the other Wyverns had no idea demon dragons were here, much less attacking a lovely, lick-worthy succubus.
“They’ve been hunting Jada for months. If we’d known you were on this side of the pond, we’d have gotten you to do the dirty work. Those things are disgusting.”
If they’d been hunting Jada, then how had she stolen the shard from Cage? It appeared she had an alibi. Which meant she had an accomplice.
It couldn’t be Portia. She was as confused as Ky. He would get the answers out of Jada, by torture if he had to.
He could imagine a lot of delicious tortures to get her to talk. Like orgasm denial for one.
He needed to find out what Portia knew and get rid of her as soon as possible. “I’m here now. Why don’t you tell me everything that’s happened, especially how you know they are going to attack tonight?”
Portia stayed tight-lipped. He turned to Jada and licked his lips.
“I haven’t seen any of them since the first night I left and the—” Jada slammed her mouth shut and filled her cheeks up with air without finishing her sentence.
Cute, but suspicious.
“And?” he prompted.
She frowned with one side of her mouth. She was about to lie to him. He scented it rolling off her like the tide.
