Luckily, that's what she had to look forward to. A lifetime with Jakob.
She had no doubt that it was not always going to be easy. He did love to be an asshat, and she was definitely a witch, the bad kind not the good kind, on occasion.
They would probably fight, there would probably be tears, there would definitely be items thrown and broken, and she envisioned more than one wall in their house needing to be repaired. They should probably put a construction crew on retainer.
And it was all because he loved her, and she loved him.
She was more than a little worried about the future, because she had a horrible feeling that the battle of last night was only the beginning of a war between good and evil. It would be made even harder because they had no idea who or what the evil was.
Not everything was clear cut black and white. Like the jet black-eyed demon dragon. He was definitely different than all of the others. He had helped her escape, had killed his own brethren, but in the name of whatever he was pursuing.
She didn't think he was in command of the rest of the demon dragons. When she had encountered him in her apartment, it was more like he had slipped in with them. He didn't even look the same as they did, and Jakob said demon dragons didn't shift into men. But, there was no mistaking that she had seen him in the forest when she was on the train.
And what was up with her weird visions of the relic? They hadn't yet found it or the woman who now wore it as a necklace. Was she friend or foe?
Could she possibly be a mate like Ciara, or would she be the only one?
She hoped not. All of the dragon warriors that she had met deserved mates, deserved love.
Then there was her mother.
Sigh.
What was she going to tell her? Ciara could just imagine that conversation now.
“Hi mom. So I married a dragon.”
“Ciara Mosley-Willingham, that is not acceptable.”
End of conversation.
Maybe she'd be a wuss and let Wesley tell her mom she wasn't ever coming back. No, that certainly wasn't fair to him.
Jakob nuzzled her ear. “I can practically hear your brain working so hard it's about to ignite. What are you thinkingabout and is it all the dirty delicious things you want to do to me?”
“I have plenty of those ideas stored up. But what I'm trying to figure out now is how to tell my mother I am not coming back to work for her.
Jakob stopped mid-nibble down her neck. “You're not?”
“It'll be kind of hard to do that from rural Czech Republic.”
“I didn't want to assume that you wanted to live there.” He shifted so that Ciara lay on her back and could look up at him. “I made too many decisions in the beginning without talking to you and that was a mistake. There are green dragons all over the world. Although not many in this area. We can live anywhere. Just because the seat of the Green Dragon Wyr has been in the Slavic lands for thousands of years doesn't mean it always has to be.”
“Well, we do need to find a new lair for your treasure.” She knew he didn't want to leave his homeland, but she would make him squirm for just a few minutes. “I hear the middle of nowhere Nebraska has a large population of Czech people. They even have Nebraska Czech Days, where we can eat goulash and kledniki and kolaches.” She only knew all of this because she'd had a young lady from Clarkson, Nebraska who needed to have a big fat Bohemian wedding.
“Sounds nice.” Asshat had called her bluff.
“I don't want to move to Nebraska. We are going back to the villa and making it our home. But I wouldn't mind visiting here every once in a while.” She punched him in the shoulder.
“Ow.”
“Oh, sorry. I forgot that was your arm that the demon dragon munched on yesterday.”
He grinned with a twinkle in his eye. “You'll just have to make that up to me.”
She giggled and began kissing him everywhere. “You have ridiculously wide shoulders I’d like to run my lips along and maybe even nibble.”
“Nobody is stopping you. But be careful. That’s where I hide my wings.”
