ApplesNotSweet: Sorry it took me a bit to respond. My phone was a bit wonky the past couple of days, hope to hear from you soon!

I quickly tapped out a response.

AppleMtnMan43: Hey you! I’m doing okay, tired, sore, yuck, but it’s a lot of hard work keeping this figure, ha

ApplesNotSweet: And a nice figure it is

AppleMtnMan43: You were checking me out, weren’t you?

ApplesNotSweet: A lady never tells

AppleMtnMan43: You’re looking pretty good yourself I kind of wish there were more pics of you

ApplesNotSweet: I’m not very photogenic

AppleMtnMan43: I beg to differ. Based on this profile pic, you look fabulous. I bet you’re even more beautiful in person

ApplesNotSweet: Maybe you’ll be lucky enough one day to find out

AppleMtnMan43: How about this weekend? I can take you out on a date

Bubbles popped up on the screen, showing she was typing, but then they stopped, and no response came through.

Ugh, I was probably a bit too forward.

But at this point, I was desperate to get a certain off-limits curvy woman out of my mind.

CHAPTER THREE

Adalynn

What the hellwas I doing?

I stared at the blinking cursor. I shouldn’t have messaged him back. It was a bad idea all around. Not only was my profile not fully truthful but I couldn’t lead Forrest on.

And honestly, it made me jealous as fuck to think of him chatting with a girl all day. It only confirmed my suspicions—Forrest never saw me as anything other than his best friend’s annoying little sister.

I slammed my computer shut, stood from the kitchen table, and poured myself a glass of wine. Jack was in the living room, yelling at the TV about some football game, and I still had no clue what to cook for dinner.

Living with my older brother had some perks, like trading off on cooking and cleaning, but at the same time, he could be a slob, especially with his clothes. God bless the woman who ended up dealing withthat.

As I rummaged through the fridge, I heard the front door open and shut, and his familiar voice washed over me, sending my nerves into overdrive.

“Jack, I checked out that website you were talking about and—” Forrest’s voice faded when he walked farther into the living room, and I quickly hurried into the dining room to eavesdrop.

“Really? You made a profile?”

“Yeah, why not? Couldn’t hurt to try, right?”

“Good point. It’s not like the women are flowing into this town. Find anything good on there?”

I rolled my eyes at my brother’s statement. There were women in town, but it took some effort. My brother thought it would just fall into his lap, didn’t he? Or maybe just waltz onto his orchard?

“Actually, I was chatting with someone, but as soon as I mentioned a date, she disappeared.”

My stomach dropped, and I held my breath while I strained to hear.

“Dude, be careful. You don’t want to end up catfished.”
