She smirks seductively, clearly pleased by my response.
I offer her a seat. “Would you like something to drink? I can have Mick bring you anything you desire.”
“I’m okay. I just wanted to see you,” she declines, still looking a little unsure. “I called Xavier, and she said you were working from here tonight.”
“I should work here most of the time, but one of my new girls at Queen of Hearts has been quite distracting lately.”
She raises an eyebrow playfully. “Oh really? Who could that be?”
Without answering, I pull her closer and kiss her passionately. I can’t keep my hands off her. Her dress is all soft and scrunches up in my hands as they travel over her body. It’s very distracting.
“How did your meet-up go with Caleb?” I inquire, breaking our kiss. I have been desperate to know since I called Caleb.
“It went well,” she replies. “I’m still trying to wrap my head around this situation, but I’m glad I could get his perspective. Thank you for organizing it. I adore the new club, by the way.”
“Yeah, she’s a beauty,” I agree. “Can’t wait until we officially open her up.” Right now, though, all I can think about is opening up her legs…
She takes my hand. “I’m sorry I underestimated you. I judged you based on what I heard, and I know better now,” she admits, her voice tinged with guilt. She clearly feels remorseful for her earlier investigation of us.
I nod in understanding. “It’s not easy when you receive information from someone you trust. Why wouldn’t you believe them? I’m no angel, sugar, none of us are, but we do what we have to for the greater good.”
She reflects for a moment, watching me. “I think I understand.”
I tease her with a smirk. “Are you here to tell me you’re leaving the cops and crossing over to the dark side?” Fuck, I hope so.
“Not quite. I just wanted to see you.” She pulls back from me. “I brought you a present.” She bites into her lip nervously, and it’s the sexiest look I think I have seen on her.
“Don’t keep me in suspense, baby, what is it?”
She reaches into her handbag and produces a set of police-grade handcuffs and the key.
I throw my head back, laughing. “Have I told you yet how fucking perfect you are?”
“No,” she answers shyly.
“Well, you are. No other girl has ever captivated my attention the way you do. I don’t know what it is about you, baby doll, but you make me want to be a better man.” I take the cuffs from her, slipping them into my pocket. “Is this your attempt at an apology?” I ask, brow raised playfully.
She shrugs. “Maybe.”
“You know me so well.” Walking around the room to the door, I flick the lock, not wanting clingy Opal walking in on us mid fuck.
“I thought…”
“Oh, I know what you thought,” I cut her off, smirking at her with a promise of what’s coming. “You really ready to play this my way?”
“Yes,” she purrs with a certainty that pleases me. “I don’t know what we are, Kobe, but I know when I’m with you like this, the rest of the doubt in my life disappears, and tonight I need you to take it all away. The last few days have been insane, and I feel like I don’t know who I am anymore or what I want from my life. But I know I want you,” she admits, and I love the desperation in her eyes. She’s letting down her walls with me. Coming to me to solve her problems.
“Mr. Rivera,” I correct her, my smile sardonic. This is going to be so much fun.
“Mr. Rivera.” She smiles back, licking her tongue over her top lip. She likes this game now. I knew she would come to love the way I play with her.
“I can be your escape, but if you want to do this, you hand over full control to me. Do everything I say without question. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” she purrs, way too pleased about it when she has no idea what I want to do to her.
I look her over, watching her like she’s my prey and I am about to pounce. “If I push you too far, I want you to say my name and I will back off, okay? It’s the only time you can say Kobe. The rest of the time, I’m Mr. Rivera. Got it?”
She looks me over, the tension intensifying. “Understood. I don’t think you would, though. I’m up for this. Can’t even tell you how much I want it.”
