“You did and I assumed you wanted out of there. You fuckin’ passed out before we ever left,” he tells me. “You have drugs in your system, Tianna. What did you take?” Drugs? I don’t take drugs. What the hell is he talking about? Then it hits me.
“Brad gave me something to help me calm down. That was it,” I tell him.
“Gave you what?” He growls.
“I … I don’t know. He just said it would help me calm down before the wedding.”
“He drugged you,” he says, taking a step back and running his hand through his hair.
“I … I don’t remember what happened, Remy.”
“You used our safe word, Tianna. You used it twice, and I got you the fuck out of there,” he reminds me.
“I don’t remember that! Why don’t I remember that?”
“He drugged you. The Doc is tryin’ to figure out what it was.” I shake my head. He wouldn’t do that. Not on our wedding day. Why would he?
“He wouldn’t do that.” Remy huffs out a breath as I turn to look at him. “He wouldn’t do that on our wedding day, Remy.”
“Well, he did.”
“This is all wrong. I have to go.”
“No.”
“What?”
“I said no, Tianna. You’re not goin’ anywhere. I just risked my ass to get you here, and now you’re stayin’.”
“I can’t stay here! I was supposed to be married, Remy!”
“And now you’re not! And until I figure out what the hell is goin’ on with you, you’re not goin’ anywhere.” His voice holds more authority than I remember. He’s never spoken to me like that before, and I’m at a loss as to what to say to him.
“Remy,” I begin to speak softly.
“Don’t. Just fuckin’ don’t,” he warns me.
“You don’t understand. If I don’t go back, bad things will happen, Remy.”
“Are you fuckin’ crazy, Tianna? He fuckin’ drugged you! And you want to run back to him? What the fuck is wrong with you?” He screams at me. I move toward the dresser and grab one of his shirts before finding a pair of his sweatpants and tugging them on. I tie the sides to keep them from falling off before heading for the door. Remy moves to block it, standing in front of it.
“You have to let me go, Remy. I need to go.”
“No.”
“You don’t understand!”
“Then make me fuckin’ understand, Tianna! Make me fuckin’ understand why you want to run back to that man who drugged you?” Anger rolls off him in waves, and I know this is all fucked up. I don’t know what the hell is happening anymore. I’m so confused. I don’t remember anything. I don’t know what the hell to do.
“Remy, I can’t explain something that I don’t even understand myself. Just trust me, I have to go,” I tell him as calmly as possible.
“You’re not goin’ anywhere.”
“You can’t keep me here,” I tell him, keeping my tone even.
“You wanna bet? You used our safe word for a reason, Tianna. You knew I was there,” he tells me.
“I … I can’t remember, Remy.”
