She bites at her lower lip, her little human teeth leaving it red and plump as she releases it to whisper, “Aldronn.”

A groan rumbles through my chest. I can no longer resist.

I crush my bride to me, taking her mouth in a kiss that sears my very soul.

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

May

Aldronn kisses me like a drowning man suddenly reaching air, as if touching me is the only way he’ll survive the next moment. He consumes me, eating at my mouth with a passion that shoots straight to my core, setting me alight.

All the blood-pounding danger of only moments ago transforms into something else. My heart races for a much better reason. I’m alive. He’s alive. We’re both so freaking alive together!

While hiding under the deluge of the waterfall, I prayed for Aldronn to rescue me or for my telepathy to let me melt the ogre’s brain. Thank god, one of those happened. The way Aldronn fought for me! He moved like a man possessed, like a god of war and vengeance, every move full of righteous fury and power. And the way he growled that the ogre never should have touched me gave me goosebumps!

It was glorious.

He’sglorious, his mouth hot and hungry and all-consuming.

I moan, fisting his shirt and pulling my way up his body. I need more. I need—

As soon as it starts, it’s over. He pulls away, straightening and striding for the bank.

“Whuh, what?” I sputter, brain still stuck in horny mode.

“I must get you dry and check you for injuries,” he says, his voice going all bossy and commanding.

“Nope, I want to staywet.” I wiggle against him on the last word, trying to give my clit some of the friction it craves.

He frowns. “Stop that.”

“No.” My dislike of orders and my libido are in full agreement on this. My legs clear the water as he gets closer to land, and I wrap them around him and squirm harder.

“May,” he growls.

“Aldronn,” I mimic. Then I make my voice husky and shoot him a come hither look. “I want you to fuck me.”

He comes to a halt, his eyes going intense. “Are you begging?”

“What?” I rear back. Shit, I forgot that conversation, the one where he promised I’d beg to sleep with him. “No.”

“I think that was begging.” His voice drops to a deep rasp that raises goosebumps all over my skin. He leans so close the breath of his next words teases across my lips like the ghost of the kiss we just shared. “Tell me you’re begging, and I’ll give you exactly what you need.”

“Make me.” I grin and I bite my lip, loving the way his hungry eyes snap to my mouth. “Give me a reason to beg.”

He growls and smirks, the wicked gleam in his eyes shooting straight to my core.

I let out a tiny whimper of need, the barest breath of noise, but the damned fae hears it, his smirk growing downright sinful.

Long strides carry us back toward the falls to the rock cliff beside the plunging deluge. The pink mushrooms that cling to the stone begin to glow in the oncoming night, surrounding us in pink light. Aldronn sets me on a ledge, my back pressed flush to stone still warm from the sun. His eyes narrow at my shiver. “You’re cold.”

I don’t waste my breath trying to deny it. Being in the cool water for so long left me chilled, and without the heat of his body, my damp clothes feel downright icy in the cool evening air.

“You better warm me up, then,” I say.

He reaches back and pulls his shirt over his head. The top part’s still relatively dry, and he blots my hair, squeezing the worst of the water from the wet strands before tossing the shirt in a high arc that sails over to plop onto the bank.

Without fabric in my way, I can finally see his naked chest. Fuck. He’s even more gorgeous than expected. I mean, I knew the guy filled out his clothes, but seeing it…
