“It’s beautiful and perfect, just as she’ll be beautiful and perfect, like her mother.”
“Me? I’m a mess.”
“You’re going to fill that little girl’s life with so much love and joy.” He brushes hair off my cheek. “And yes, even messiness, that she’s going to have the very best of lives.”
“Are we making her right now?”
He shakes his head. “We’ve got a little time yet, but that’s good.” Aldronn kisses me. “I want to have you to myself for a bit. I’m ready to practice this selfish thing you speak of.”
His hand slides around to my butt and pulls me tightly to him as he rolls us onto our sides. The knot shifts inside me, sending jolts of sensation racing along my nerves like mini-orgasms.
I clench, and his answering groan makes it clear he still feels pleasure as well.
“How long is your knot going to last?” I ask.
“Ten or twelve hours this first time.” He smirks.
I clench tight around him, making him groan, and say, “Then you better kiss me.”
And he does.
I wake in the morning fully satisfied and more than a bit sore from being knotted all night. No regrets. It turns out that youcanorgasm just from being stuffed full with no thrusting needed—or at least I can when Aldronn’s stud vibrates over my clit and the pleasure of me clenching his knot tight echoes back from him.
God, I’ve gone months without orgasming as much as I did in one freaking night.
It was glorious.
Sunlight teases around the edges of the shutters, and birdsong and the sound of people moving around comes from outside.
I stretch across the bed, the furs soft and luxurious against my skin. There’s a warm spot beside me. Aldronn hasn’t been gone long.
He strides back into the room, wearing only a pair of tan linen pants. The soft fabric clings to him, looking even better than gray sweatpants would.
He carries a wooden tray, topped with a familiar paper cup. The heavenly smell of cappuccino with cinnamon jolts me upright, and I gulp down half of it before stopping to breathe.
“Oh, god,” I moan. “Please tell me I never have to go without coffee ever again.”
“We need to find a way to ensure you have coffee even when away from Olivia.” Aldronn sits beside me on the bed, and the rest of the tray comes into view, the surface covered with donuts.
I shove sugary goodness into my mouth and bite down, chewing enthusiastically. Mom’s treat parties gave me quite the sweet tooth, and orc cooking, while yummy, doesn’t have enough sweets. “Or we could kidnap her or knight her or whatever it takes to make her our personal chef.”
“Queen for a day and already abusing your power.” He smirks. “I didn’t know you had it in you.”
“You totally should have.” I point at him with my donut. When he snatches a bite of it, I yank it back, teasing, “Get your own.”
“Yours tastes better.”
I grin and bring it back to his mouth, loving the hot feel of his tongue licking powdered sugar from my fingers. We finish off breakfast like this, with me getting the first bite of every donut before feeding him the rest.
A loud pounding jars the shutters over the window, and Starfall says, “I know you’re awake. I can hear you.”
Aldronn’s lips twitch as he pulls a fur over me, and I tuck it under my arms to keep it in place. “Go ahead and open them. We’re decent enough.”
The wooden shutter swings open, letting in a wash of sunshine. Starfall’s head is a dark shadow against the brightness. “If you’re quite finished, we have business to attend to.”
“Already?” I ask. “Everyone in the alliance had representatives on site. They all saw everything that happened with the Moon Goddess.” Aldronn and I discussed an excitingnew idea for Alarria last night, but we need to talk about it with our people before we take it to everyone.
“The dragons want to go over everything again.”
