“What choice do you have?” I growl. By the goddess, I can’t remember the last time someone defied me. It’s irritating… andstrangely intriguing. Women dive into my furs at the smallest twitch of my finger. To need to work for my bride’s approval stirs my competitive nature.

She glares down at me for several seconds before muttering, “Fine.” Mind made up, there’s no further hesitation. My bride throws herself off the pillar with a fierce bravery I can only admire.

I catch her and pull her to me, her slight body fitting perfectly into my arms. I thought I’d gotten used to what humans could look like from my time spent around the witches of Moon Blade Village. I was wrong.

My bride is bewitching, her up-tilted brown eyes beautiful and full of spirit. Good. My queen will need to be strong.

My moon bound bride. I can’t believe I have one. Here’s the reason no one else has ever held my interest. The Moon Goddess knew this woman would be mine.

“Stop calling me that,” my bride snaps.

“I didn’t say anything.” By the goddess, what magic does this witch have that she’s already enchanted me? I want nothing more than to spread her naked across my furs.

Her eyes widen.

“What is it?” I ask. “What witch power do you have?”

She bites her bottom lip for a second, pulling my gaze to its rosy plumpness, then says, “I’m telepathic.”

I frown. “What does this word mean?”

“It means I can read minds.” She cocks an eyebrow. “And you, sir, have an absolutely dirty, filthy mind.”

CHAPTER FIVE

The orc’s eyes widen the tiniest touch, but he regains his composure with alarming speed. “Filthy?” His voice drops to a deep growl that vibrates through me. “What exactly are you seeing?”

Instead of words, I’m assaulted by a very detailed vision of him with his head buried between my legs. Fuck, he’s enthusiastic about going down—one of those guys who truly loves it instead of pretending.

My thighs clench, warmth coiling low in my stomach. It’s been a while. I spent my entire time in China surrounded by family, with a bunch of aunties who watched me like a hawk. Added to that, most of the people I met around my age were cousins of one sort or the other. It didn’t leave any room for play, not that I get around much, anyway. People always assume thata woman traveling alone is up for a good time, but I’ve never worked that way. I need chemistry. I need sparks.

Which is why it’s super annoying that this arrogant king is creating enough heat to start a bonfire.

“I think you know exactlywhatI’m seeing.” I glare at him.

His lips twitch. “I suppose the real question is do you like it?”

“What? No!” I lie.

He full-on smirks as if he sees right through me.

Then a thought strikes me. Oh, god. If I’m telepathic, does that mean I’m projecting my thoughts? Can he hear me think that I’m into him?

I shove at his chest, which feels far too yummy and muscular for my peace of mind. “Let me down.”

“As you wish, little queen.”

Shock ripples through me. I freeze, my hands plastered to him. “What did you call me?”

“Little queen.” His dark eyes bore into mine. “For that is what you are. I’m a king, and you’re mine, therefore—” His lips stop moving, but his voice rings through my head.“My queen. My bride, here to support all of my endeavors with her magic.”

“Oh, hell no!” I shove even harder. “I’m not some extension of you! I’m my own person.”

He scowls. “I didn’t mean—”

“Ha!” I point at him. “Don’t even try to talk your way out of it. Mind reader, remember?”
