I do understand how it’s nice to drink with breakfast but the meal itself is too late in the day. Even now it’s 10AM and I’ve been up for almost five hours.
Knowing that we were going to eat, I stuck to coffee all morning instead of having a breakfast sandwich or something to make my stomach not groan.
A couple hours at the gym and a couple hours at the work site, trying to figure out what else we can do with the buildings. And an amount of time that I don’t want to think about where I stare at my clothes trying to figure out what the hell one wears to brunch.
I settled on jeans and a white henley with a utility jacket and boots. It didn’t feel like I was trying too hard but the outfit is me trying very hard. I had made sure the henley was clean and not a work one so that Sadie didn’t think I was some slob. I just didn’t care about clothes like Anthony did. But I wanted our omega to know I was trying for her.
Jace had walked down to the gym that Sadie and Ant had headed off to earlier to drop off clothes for them to change into. Cameron was waiting for me in the living room, leaning against the table as he textedlooking easy going in his ripped black jeans, black hoodie, and a leather jacket.
He looked at ease and like himself.
Fucker.
“Ready?” He nodded his head, tucking his phone into his jacket as we made our way out to the SUV.
I was going to say something about last night or even this morning to him. About how he had Sadie being so loud that I had to jerk off just to ease the way her voice had made me so hard but I wasn’t going to bring it up. If I brought it up my cock was just going to start aching again.
It was already at risk of getting blisters from how hard I had been working it.
Sadie would get time with all of us, together and separate, and I liked that she was always taken care of. I just liked having her. Especially with her under the same roof as us.
No one had talked about her sleeping in my bed the night she had poured out her life story to me. She had trusted me with that and I was keeping it safe.
Just like I’d keep making sure Sadie is always safe.
Pulling up to the gym to wait for our pack, I see Jace stepping out first. He pauses, holding the door as Anthony and Sadie walk out, hands clasped together.
She looks fucking beautiful in a pair of dark blue jeans, hugging her thick thighs, a black sweater tucked into the front of her jeans, and a pair of black boots with just a little heel. She’s still so tiny compared to us.
She wasn’t all dolled up with a ton of makeup on. Her brown hair in a messy bun that I could tell was still wet from her shower. Natural and gorgeous.
I didn't love that she had wet hair outside during the winter but I did like that she was going to the gym and spending time with Anthony doing something they could bond over.
“Morning, Daddy.” She teases me with a kiss on the cheek, leaning forward between the seats to deliver it. It was giving me a hit of herpeachy scent that managed to bleed through her scent blockers as she nuzzled against me.
I grumble in reply. Trying not to get a boner and pin her in the backseat. Instead, letting Jace guide her back down and making sure her seatbelt is on. Sadie kept eye contact in the rearview mirror, driving me insane with just her eyes being on me.
Fucking brunch should be earlier.
She’s holding court in the back seat. Easily chatting about working out that morning. Laughing easily with everyone as they tease Ant about sneaking her out to have time alone with her. Sadie just fit with us. I liked how easy it was, how relaxed they all were as they joked like we had all known each other forever. This was the sort of camaraderie I had always expected to have some day.
Twenty minutes later we’re ordering drinks at brunch. Sadie opting for coffee as we sat around the table together. She’s between Jace and Cameron but, from where I’m sitting, I get a perfect view of her pretty face.
She seems happy today. Not overwhelmed or upset like she had been the other night. I like how happiness looks on her.
“Are you a sweet or savory girl?” Jace asks, as we look through the menu.
I already know I’m ordering the half serving of biscuits and gravy and the full cardiac arrest to go with my Irish coffee. A side of hash too should help fill me. My stomach rumbling as I’m reminded that I am starving.
Brunch should be earlier in the day.
But I watch as Sadie thinks about what kind of girl she is.
“Both,” She shrugs her shoulders. “I have a sweet tooth but I’m also a savory breakfast person. Honestly, I usually just order eggs Benedict in some form.”
That makes sense.
Her anxiety comes out in small ways. The way she swallows, licking her lips, swallows again. She’ll count on her fingers when she starts to get overwhelmed. Her eyes are looking for exits, like she’s planning her escape when something goes bad. How when she gets in the car she always looks behind her so she can make sure she’s safe. Theway she chews her sleeve or covers her mouth, oral fixation on things to self soothe.
