He’s motioning me to leave the room as he tugs on his sweatpants and shuts the door behind us.
“I got coffee.” He nods, grabbing his cup in silent appreciation.
Everyone would think Paxton is a black coffee guy. They would all be completely wrong. He will order a coffee if we’re out for meetings but if it’s me picking up the morning drink run I always get him his cardamom tea with a pinch of cinnamon and milk.
He started drinking tea on our first tour of Afghanistan, when we were just kids, and it was a habit that stuck with him for decades now.
I am a plain coffee and milk guy. I don’t like to have complicated orders for me despite having everyone else's crazy orders. If I am feeling frisky maybe I’ll get hazelnut flavoring. But usually not even that.
“I want Sadie to stay with us all month. If she’s going to commit to us, I want her to be here so we can have as much time as possible.” Paxton is telling me this because he knows he can’t just tell her to stay and expect her to listen.
It’s up to me to get her to move in with us. We all are hoping it isn’t just for a month and she stays with us and never leaves but bringing that up to Sadie before we even sleep with her is sure to make her run away.
Paxton sips his tea as I nod in agreement.
It’s not like she is going to leave us. She is going to stay with us forever. This one month thing is just a timeline for us to talk and make sure we’re all on the same page.
“I want to take her hiking today.” He freezes, looking outside like he needs to make sure the weather is okay for our omega to be in, “I figured that it won’t be too bad in the woods.”
He licks his lips, his mind is on something and I can tell he is trying to figure out how to tell me something without coming right out and saying it. Sadie must have told him something and Paxton is a world class secret keeper.
He swallows another sip of his tea as he mulls it all over in his head.
“Don’t take her anywhere muddy.” That’s all he gives me but it’s delivered in the voice he used when he commanded us in the army. An order that I need to make sure I follow.
I could ask why but he wouldn't tell me so I just nod my head and drink my own coffee as he looks up towards the stairs.
“Anthony and Cameron are going to try and tag along unless you leave before they wake up.” It’s another piece of advice, like he wants to make sure that I also have time with our girl.
But I don’t want to wake Sadie up. She looked so pretty all curled up in bed, her hair fanned out around her as she slept. I’d hate to be the one to wake her up from whatever dream she is having.
So I stay quiet.
I don’t really mind if Cameron or Anthony came. I think Sadie would be more comfortable if they were there. Do I want one on one time with her? Absolutely, but I’m also not going to do it if it makes her feel uncomfortable in any way.
“You got coffee?” Sadie’s sleepy voice makes me look up and I see Paxton’s smirk at how she has his comforter wrapped around her like a cape.
Her bare feet are on the hard wood as she shuffles closer, looking up at me as I push over two drinks for her. Her smile melts me as she leans in, letting me wrap myself around her burrito frame as she takes a drink of the latte. A moan leaving her lips that makes my back straighten up as she swallows down the first sip.
The way she makes soft hums of pleasure as she drinks her coffee, leaning against me as she does a shimmy dance feels like a win.
She’s adorable.
“You’re the best, Jace.” Her lips connect with my jaw and her smile lands on me. It’s like getting your own personal little glow of sunshine.
“Jace wants to take you hiking today,” Paxton is watching her as she leans against the counter, sipping her drink up at a speed that is both concerning and impressive.
What else can she suck like that?
Her eyes are on me again and I wonder if she can smell my arousal or if she is interested in hiking. I hope it’s the latter of the two.
“I’d love that. Just us?” she confirms as I nod once at her. “I can wear what I wore to the gym?” she’s asking if that’s okay and I nod, looking over at Paxton and thinking about what he said about her staying with us.
“We could stop at your apartment, grab whatever you need. If you wanted to stay all weekend with us or you know, the entire month.” She straightens at this and I know it was too soon to talk about.
I’m messing it all up.
It’s clear from the look on her face that she doesn’t like the idea of giving up her space so soon. But what surprises me is that she looks at Paxton, her eyes on him like she is trying to see what he thinks about all of this.
