Another thing to worry about. I let out a sigh.
“Do you need us to, uhhh, bring you anything?” Quinn asked.
“No,” I said quickly. Emotions swirled through me, and it was too confusing, too much suddenly to plan for.
If Colton and Quinn were coming tomorrow, I had to tell my family tonight.
Nerves made everything feel blurry. Halos started purring and some of my anxiety soothed away.
“Did you talk to Dante yet?” Colton asked, his voice on edge. “What did he say?”
Colton sounded ready for a fight, and I couldn’t blame him. There was a reason I’d decided to call Quinn first.
“I haven’t.”
Halos ramped up his purring. If I could bottle the pure bliss that came from his purrs, I would be a rich woman.
“Do you want to wait for us?” Quinn asked softly. “I’m sure it’s fine, but we could be there with you if you wanted some support?”
A knot of tension in my chest suddenly released. This was scary and awkward but if Quinn was offering to be there with me while I called Dante, maybe I wasn’t totally doomed.
“Yeah, how did you even get his number? Doesn’t he have a PR person? How did you get our number, for that matter?” Colton sounded amused, now.
“I don’t ask what dark magic my cousin does on her computer to get such information.” I shrugged, even though they couldn’t see me. “No, I’ll call Dante next. I just thought with the two of you, it would be easier…”
“You can say it, we’re the favorites.” Colton sounded smug. “But seriously if you need anything let us know. Or we could go out once we blow into town.”
“It’s still too early to get…stuff.” I couldn’t make myself say baby stuff.
“Whatever you want.” Quinn said, the sound of a keyboard still clicking. “Hey Luna, it says that there’s some supplements you can—”
“My obstetrician has me on some prenatals already,” I said. “I’ll show you when you get here.”
“Oh, okay. Good. Right.” Quinn shuffled. “I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”
“Yeah, let us know if you need anything in the meantime,” Colton said, almost desperately.
Halos snickered silently. I snuggled against him and said goodbye.
I hung up the phone and leaned back. “Why did he sound so desperate? What I need is my life to be less confusing, but he can’t just pick that up on his way from the airport.”
“He’s an alpha, love.” Halos handed me another peanut butter and jelly sandwich half. “You’re pregnant, unbonded, and far away. He’s gonna be cranky and overprotective, I bet.”
I sighed. “You’re not cranky and overprotective.”
“I’m also not in Texas.”
I looked over my shoulder up at him. “Hmm.”
I stole a kiss and prepared myself to call Dante. My heart gave another little wiggle.
Quinn and Colton were coming to see me. We could sort this out. Maybe we weren’t going to be a pack, but they still cared enough to see about the baby.
I had no idea how Dante would respond. He probably had flings all the time. I suppressed a growl at the thought of him with anyone else.
He wasn’t my alpha, no matter what my stupid crush said. It had been an amazing weekend, but if it wasn’t for being pregnant, I never would have seen any of these men again.
I dialed the number I had for Dante. Raina had said it was probably not his assistant or agent’s phone number, but she couldn’t be hundred percent certain.
