“Not from Halos,” Ember said. “Colton and Quinn had almost hired a private investigator, and Dante was so terrified of the idea of love he rejected you at first. A feeling you can relate to.”
I gave my cousin the stink eye. She didn’t even bother to look at me.
“I can get my tarot cards if you want.”
“Don’t threaten me.”
I just knew if she did a reading, I’d pull the Tower card. Massive change and work ahead was what the Tower card signaled and I didn’t need Ember to attack me with her deck to tell me that.
Ember smirked. “You know what you’re supposed to do, then.”
I sighed. “I love them. I have to try and be okay with the idea that I can’t control everything.”
Ember slid off the bed. “Good, I’ve already texted them. They’ll be right over.”
I gave my cousin another look but was suddenly glad my pack was almost here.
Ember let them inside, letting the rest of my family know they were back. She gave me an exaggerated wink when she said I would want some alone time, and then left.
All four of them entered my bedroom, wearing sheepish, concerned expressions.
I took a deep breath in through my nose as their scents filled the room.
“I didn’t mean to push,” Colton said. “We can take it however you want.”
Quinn pulled a shiny red gift bag from behind the door. It crinkled with tissue paper. He slid onto the bed next to me. “I could share some facts with you about the staying power of packs, but I think you know that already.”
“Besides, who else are you going to find that loves plants as much as you?” Halos kissed my cheek. “You’ve always been the omega for me.”
Halos looked at the other three. “I never thought I wanted to have a pack, but now I can’t imagine being with anyone else.”
I sniffled, more tears leaking from my eyes. “I’m sorry. I’m just scared.”
“It’s okay, honey.” Dante crawled next to me and took my hand. “Of course you’re scared. I’m terrified as well.”
His soft understanding undid me. I cried, until all four of them circled me, their scents keeping the worst of the fear at bay.
If I could just smell them, touch them, see them, I would know they loved me. Would always love me. It was my own fears getting in the way.
I didn’t need a bond with them to feel their love for me. We slid back, reclining on the bed until the storm of emotions calmed inside me.
Our breathing regulated until we were all inhaling and exhaling as one. The sharp pains that had plagued me eased, and I fell into a doze.
Chapter29
Luna
Iwoke up when I had to pee, feeling the weight of all four of my men on me. I blinked, disoriented, to see bright golden sunlight streaming through my curtains.
Quinn shifted, his arm around my waist. He passed me a light blue soft pillow. “You hungry?”
My stomach rumbled. “I could eat.”
Like it was a magic spell, the three alphas stirred. Quinn gave me a sleepy smile. “We didn’t sleep well.”
“Me either.” I waddled into the kitchen.
“What are we craving?” Halos snuggled up against me. “Sticky mango rice? Spaghetti?”
