I wanted to stay between the pair. I wanted to feel their lips on mine. Wanted to see if Quinn’s lips were as soft as they looked, if Colton tasted as good as he smelled.
Craving was burrowing inside me. A hunger that wouldn’t be denied. I wanted them. It didn’t matter if I didn’t know them well, or that I didn’t want a pack.
Touching them felt right. Like I belonged.
But even as those thoughts filled my mind, I pulled myself right back from the possibilities. I couldn’t have them. I wasn’t ready for more, and they’d certainly not given any indication that it was something they wanted.
After a moment, I indicated I was ready to get up. Colton helped me to my feet, but it took a minute and more water until I felt steady enough to stand on my own. Quinn handed me some crackers, and I ate one carefully while the beta talked about the latest research in butterflies, and Colton rubbed my back in small circles. By the time I was done I felt much more like myself.
“Let’s go backstage.” I finished my water. “I’m okay.”
“You’re sure?” Quinn cocked his head.
“I’m fine.” I wasn’t going to ruin this chance to meet Dante or to hang out some more with this sexy pair. I could be brave.
Colton eyed me. “Alright. But if you become ‘not fine’ let me know. We’ll dip out and make sure you’re okay.”
Chapter4
Luna
Ifollowed Colton out of the conference room, and around the lobby. The press of people still made my heart pound in my chest, but my headache had receded to manageable levels.
Backstage was one long, dark hallway filled with security. I shifted closer to Quinn, and he slid around so I was between him and Colton.
Colton handed security their passes. Either they had an extra one or it didn’t matter, because no one blinked an eye.
There was already a group of people in the lounge. Soft white lights and purple velvet couches and chairs made the place look exactly like it was: a VIP lounge for the Vegas elite.
At the center was a massive circular couch with a small glass table to the side. Dante sat in the center, still wearing his stage outfit, surrounded by a crowd of people, a beautiful omega woman on each arm. As we got closer, I slowed down, and I noticed that Quinn was doing the same thing.
“Welcome.” Dante gestured to the couch. “We were just talking about my latest illusion.” I could have listened to him talk for hours.
It was fine. I was totally not freaking out that I was in the same room as Dante Trent.
I became aware of the sweet, spicy scent of sandalwood and cinnamon hanging in the air, and I knew without question it was Dante. A flush of desire raced through me, and I was suddenly too hot, again.
It was fine.Iwas fine. I kept saying that in my head.
“I hope you all enjoyed the show.” The weight of Dante’s gaze tracing over my body was like a caress.
My tongue had decided not to work, so I just nodded.
“I aim to please.” Dante grinned at the three of us. “Make yourselves comfortable.”
Colton took a seat on the couch. I waited for Quinn to sit next to him, but he instead gestured at me to sit next to his alpha, so I took my seat, and Quinn sat next to me. Their combined scents of cotton and rainstorm soothed me, and some of my anxiety of being in a room filled with strangers receding.
I pressed my palms against my knees and tried to follow the conversation. Most of the other people backstage were fawning over Dante, telling him how cool and impressive his show was.
Dante shifted the conversation back to the illusions, and Quinn perked up. “Are you trying new angles with the mirrors? There is cutting-edge technology coming out now that can create a mirror image.”
The room grew quiet, and I held my breath. If they laughed at Quinn, they were gonna see an omega’s rage. Judging from the tension in Colton’s shoulders, he was thinking the same thing.
Dante laughed. “Good eye.”
“The science of angles and illusions is fascinating.” Quinn gestured with his hands as if he was the illusionist on stage. I could picture him performing his own show. “If you look into the latest research on lasers, there’s all sorts of illusions you could come up with.”
“Lasers sound edgy.” Dante rubbed his hands together and leaned forward. “I love it. How would it work?”
