“Okay,” Luna said softly. “Let’s look at houses too.”
“Yes,” I said, pumping my fist into the air. “Okay so, I have several listings in mind.”
I took a breath and proceeded to tell her all about the great houses Colton and I had found in the area. I also made sure to include Halos and Dante in the discussion, letting them know all of them had a minimum of six bedrooms, not including a separate nest, so that they would know that everyone would have their own space.
Luna looked overwhelmed when I finished.
My heart sank. “I overdid it.”
She shook her head. “No, I just can’t hold that much info in my brain right now. I can barely remember my own name. Can we go back to the cottage, and you can show me?”
“Sure.” I stood up. “What about the rest of the expo?”
She shook her head. “If one more person tries to touch me, or congratulates me on my new pack addition, you’re going to have to use your money for a lawyer and bail.”
I laughed, helping her up. “Any time, my dear. Any time.”
Chapter26
Luna
The weeks slid away quicker than I could have imagined. I ate more and more, craving random weird things at all hours. My not-pack had jumped over themselves, each of them trying to be the first one to go get whatever I was craving, and they’d all become good at cooking my top four biggest cravings: peanut butter and jelly toast, sticky rice with mango, mashed potatoes and gravy, and spaghetti.
I stopped thinking about what I was going to do with the men who were quickly becoming an integral part of my life. We looked at baby supplies online, but I stopped trying to buy it all at once. My sisters and cousins wanted to throw me a baby shower, so I decided we would buy what we needed after that.
House hunting slowed to a crawl. We spent hours looking through listings but, even though real estate on the Northern California coast was brutally competitive, nothing looked right. Most houses big enough were sleek and modern. They looked too sterile, and the few we did go and tour just smelled wrong.
The nests were too typical. Small dark rooms with padding and lots of pillows. They were nice, of course, but just not right, especially when I thought about my attic loft nest that I’d finally managed to get to smell right.
My belly grew bigger, and I hadn’t seen my feet in weeks. Colton’s obsession with “breeding” me kept me at a fever pitch, and it wasn’t uncommon for him to push me up against the wall and have his way with me. Which of course, led to the others joining in. It was like being in heat, but on a low simmer, for months.
I’d never thought of myself as a sex kitten, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to go back to sex once or twice a week after this.
Dante had told us he had a surprise, and without anything else to go on, we piled into the car.
I sat in the back, between Halos and Quinn, while Dante drove and Colton rode shotgun.
Halos’s vetiver and mint scent soothed me. I buried my face into his neck while holding hands with Quinn, wishing my emotions would calm down.
“We could get ice cream on the way back?” Quinn squeezed my hand.
“Yes,” Halos said, his voice a quiet rumble. “You deserve some frozen treats.”
I patted my belly. Poppy moved inside me, the weirdest sensation of rolling and squishing I’d ever experienced. “Peanut agrees. Ice cream it is.”
“Perfect.” Dante drummed his hands on the steering wheel. He had the same level of excitement as when he practiced a new trick for us. Quinn liked to give pointers, but the rest of us just enjoyed the free show.
“Where are we going? Is it much further?” I eyed the highway around us. We were still close to the coast but going a little further inland.
“One more minute or so.” Dante winked at me, and my body heated up. We’d had amazing sex first thing this morning, but you wouldn’t be able to tell, based on my cravings.
Halos kissed my temple. “Behave, Luna. Maybe we’ll give you more than one treat after Dante’s surprise.”
My perfume filled the car, and everyone groaned.
“It’s not my fault. When you say it like that,” I said defensively, “of course, that turns me on.”
Halos chuckled as Dante turned down a white gravel road. I didn’t recognize the area even though we weren’t more than fifteen minutes from my cottage. There were a lot of winding backroads in this part of the state.
