“I want to be here.” Luna looked up at him. “I like the idea of wandering around and seeing a lot of different stuff at once.”
“Like a garden.” I grinned.
She smiled at me. “Like a garden, yes.”
“Okay.” Halos gave her a short kiss, and we moved away from the furniture, into the jungle of strollers and car seats.
“I’m sorry I didn’t like any of the furniture sets.” Luna sighed. “We can go back and look if you want?”
“We can do better.” I patted her belly. We maneuvered around a crowd of people, their scents filling the space. Mostly alphas and betas, while most of the omegas were standing on the fringes. The event coordinators really didn’t plan very well for pregnant omegas.
We stopped at a few of the strollers that had good reviews and safety ratings. I grilled the saleswoman, but she actually knew her product.
“Luna, hi!” A woman approached our group, with three alphas trailing behind her.
She was an omega as well, with blonde hair in a ponytail.
Luna forced a smile on her face, but it didn’t reach her eyes. “Marie, hi.”
Marie squealed and gestured at Luna’s belly. “You’re pregnant too? Oh my God, what are the chances?”
“Pretty good, apparently,” Luna muttered.
Marie dragged one of the alphas forward. “This is Luke, and the other one is Miles. Karl is the bodybuilder.” She giggled again and winked at Colton.
“Who is your pack?” Marie leaned against her alpha.
Luna looked at us, and then back at her apparent friend. “This is Quinn, Colton, Halos, and Dante.”
I knew she felt like calling us her pack was lying, but it wasn’t. Not really. We were her pack, but we would bond when she was ready.
“Oh my God they’re so handsome,” Marie squealed again. “Of course, I don’t think they are as handsome as my pack, but still. You’ve done a great job.”
Luna bristled. “Of course not. Just like I don’t think your pack is that attractive either.”
Marie smiled. “Luna, honey, it’s a joke. We’re all happy and bonded and pregnant. Miles is going to take us to France after the baby is born. We want him to be really well-cultured.”
I had been around enough professors to see a match over who was doing better. I glanced at the alphas, but they were all too busy keeping their eye on Marie’s pack.
Time for the beta to step in. I smiled. “France is nice in the Spring. You should definitely check it out. After my second Ph.D. we’re going to celebrate by doing a Mediterranean cruise.”
“Oh wow,” Marie giggled. “You must be so smart. Be careful what cruise line you take though, some of those have gotten really crowded.”
“You’re absolutely right,” I smiled, so pleased the showy omega fell into my trap. “But we’re taking Colton’s yacht. It’s much quieter that way, you know, easier on an omega’s nerves, not to mention the baby.”
Luna smiled and it looked like she was suppressing a laugh. “It really is.”
“Oh, fancy.” Marie tipped her hand. “We looked at some yachts, but you know, I prefer the private jet.”
One of her alphas stepped forward, looking like a total caveman. “Yeah, we prefer to fly in style.”
“Did we decide if we wanted to take the jet to the Maldives?” Dante asked, catching on. I knew he would, he lived in Vegas long enough.
“We did,” Halos said, looking bored. “If you’re over in Europe, you ought to go over to the island of Capri. The beautiful blue caves add to the beautiful vistas and they catch the fish fresh from the sea.”
Marie gave Luna a fake smile. “You’ve certainly traded up from those other guys you were with.”
“Of course she has.” I smiled, giving her my best ‘aw shucks’ look. “We’re smarter, better looking, and richer. But you know, life is about the lessons we learn, and it took a crappy pack for Luna to realize what she was worth.”
