Evan shifted against me. Sometime in the middle of the night his knot had deflated, and I mourned the loss.
“What’s wrong?” Simon stroked a hand down my back. “What do you need?”
“Cold.” I shivered again.
He got out of bed and threw another quilt on the bed. He made me drink Gatorade before stroking my hair until sleep dragged me under.
Chapter16
Stella
The scent of waffles woke me. I opened an eye then closed it again, wincing.
The light was too bright, even the curtains were pulled. I wanted to want the waffles, but the thought of having to actually eat made me irritable. The sheets were too hot against my skin, and I really should have bought the special fancy omega sheets last month when I’d thought about it.
Great, the cranky part of the heat had started.
Simon brought breakfast to the bedroom and served me with a kiss.
When I saw the bottle of maple syrup, I rolled over and smiled at him, dumping half of it on my waffles. Now that I could manage.
I used Jerrick’s lap like a pillow and dug into my food.
“You’re okay?” Jerrick nuzzled me.
“I’m amazing.”
Except for feeling out of sorts, but that was the heat.
“Not sore?” Evan stole a piece of Simon’s bacon even though he had his own.
I shifted around. “I’m always a little sore during my heats even before the constant sex.”
My phone on the bedside table lit up. Jerrick handed it to me, and I saw that there were messages from my sisters and cousins.
“Sorry,” I said. “I’ll let them know I’m okay.”
“You don’t have to apologize.” Simon touched my arm. “Your family worries about you. Perfectly normal.”
My last pack hadn’t thought so, but I didn’t say that out loud.
Once some of the driving need for sex abated, I usually wanted to lie around and watch bad movies with my sisters and cousins while we ate our weight in junk food.
The sexy times would come again—pun intended—but until then I wanted to turn my brain off.
I finished my plate and shifted in bed. The three of them looked at me.
“What?” I blinked.
“What do you want to do?” Evan held his hands out. “Your perfume isn’t heavy, so do you do something else in between being a sex goddess?”
I looked down at my phone. I’d told my family in our group chat that I was fine.
“Normally? My sisters and cousins come over and we watch terrible movies.”
Simon stood up. “We can leave.”
I shook my head. “I’m not saying leave. I’m out of practice, I guess.”
