Page 46 of Stella

Stella bumped Logan’s shoulder again before stealing a piece of crab cake.

She was so comfortable with them, so cozy. I wanted to punch Logan’s face, even if he barely looked at her.

“When are you good for a tasting?” Luca asked with a wink. “I know a guy, who knows a guy, who can get you in.”

My fingers dug into my palms again.

“We should be getting back,” I cleared my throat.

“What?” Stella shook her head. “Meredith’s barely started.”

I couldn’t help but step closer, shooting Luca a glare.

“I’ve got to get this event squared away,” Stella said. “Besides, I don’t want to miss the tasting.”

“Tasting sounds dirty,” Julian said, winking at me. He was adorable and I saw why the other two alphas made him their pack.

“Sunshine will be here any minute,” Stella said.

I took another deep breath in. It didn’t help. I inhaled more of her peaches and orange scent, and it made me lightheaded.

The other two alphas had to have noticed how close she was to being in heat. I could almost taste peaches on my tongue.

I wanted to taste other things on my tongue.

“You’re all set up for next Friday.” Stella shoved another deviled egg into her mouth, not even trying to hide her thievery. Julian helped himself too, and Logan huffed and rolled his eyes. “Save some for Sunshine, you two.”

“I will.” Stella smirked. “Once she gets here, we can talk expansion. But she has most of the details so you’re gonna have to get with her.”

“Oh, I’ll get with her,” Julian muttered under his breath.

“Great.” Stella clapped her hands together.

“What’s going on?” Sunshine walked in holding a clipboard. Her blonde hair was pulled into a ponytail and she wore a sundress that almost but not quite matched Stella’s dress.

“We were talking about how we want to get with you,” Julian said with a wink. He didn’t hide that he was checking the pretty beta out.

Sunshine’s cheeks turned pink. “About the catering job?”

“Among other things.” Julian slid closer. “Try some samples before we have to fight Stella off.”

Interesting. Normally a pack with an omega was already settled, but Logan looked at Sunshine out of the corner of his eye, and Luca turned to Sunshine like she was the actual sun.

Stella’s older sister was completely oblivious, trying the food and making appreciative noises.

The looks Pack Kahele gave the beta were far from professional.

Shamelessly, I seized my opening. I hooked my arm around Stella’s waist. “Now that Sunshine is here, we must be on our way.”

“Meredith isn’t remotely finished yet,” Stella said, sounding both breathless and annoyed. Her tangy peach and citrus scene teased me, sharp and sweet. It told me everything I needed to know. She was mine. Maybe not her heart, but her body craved me.

I looked at Pack Kahele. “It was nice making your acquaintance, but Stella and I have an appointment to keep.”

“I bet you do,” Julian smirked.

“I’ll leave you in Sunshine’s care.”

Stella frowned at me. “We don’t have any—”
