"Yes. But you like it that way."

"I do." He kissed the top of my head. "But your other boy toys are coming."

I hit his shoulder. "You're not boy toys."

He laughed. "Sure, sure. I'm definitely not just here for your every whim and pleasure."

I grinned at him. "I mean, that's not the only thing you're here for."

Despite his belly aching, Nikki obeyed and slept next to me.

I reminded myself that I couldn’t keep Nikki either, but my heart wasn’t listening. I fell asleep, wondering what sort of world I had to remake in order to make them mine.

The next day was perfect for traveling. We took several carriages, and Rayth was in rare form, bringing snacks for everyone. Nikki was busy obsessively checking our surroundings for trouble, even though we had guards, and Asano was living his best life, swapping notes with the girls about their favorite classes. Tilda managed to convince him to let her braid his hair, and things were going well until we got to the Temple.

It was a large, open air structure. We were supposed to be walking around admiring the structure that allowed magic to flow freely around it, but the teenagers instead decided to follow me and my men around.

Gigi cut right to the chase. "So this is your pack?" She sounded vaguely offended, like I should have discussed things with her first.

"No?" I looked at Asano and Rayth for help. Nikki was a couple of feet away, scanning the temple grounds. "Not yet?"

"Right." Gigi nodded at Rayth. "Gotta wait for your alpha to ask you."

My face heated. I scanned the area for a hole I could bury myself in. "Well, yes, but we also getting to know each other."

"Presents!" Tilda's eyes lit up, and she slid between us. "What is the best present he's given you so far?"

I pinched the bridge of my nose. I couldn't say a threesome with Asano, so I settled. "Baking supplies."

Tilda frowned and looked at Rayth. "You're doing it wrong. She won't say yes if you don't, you know, really woo her."

I gasped. "Tilda."

Rayth looked amused, and Asano laughed.

"It's okay." Rayth looked at me.

Today he wore deep blue, and it set off his hair perfectly. I was already plotting when I could sneak off with them. And then maybe Nikki would walk in on us...

"It's what she really wanted," Rayth said to Tilda. "An alpha's job is to figure out what his omega needs, and provide it."

Gigi wrinkled her nose. "My sister is an omega too, and she got necklaces and a fancy house during her courtship."

"You have to work your way up to those things," Rayth said with a wink at me. "You start out like that, and she feels like you're trying to buy her affections."

"Oh, that's true," Gigi nodded sagely. "But you're so old."

Asano laughed again and clapped Rayth on the shoulder.

"I am." Rayth's eyes were twinkling, but he addressed her concerns like they were valid. "It means I'm smart and had time to make money."

"I guess that makes sense." She still looked doubtful. "But I would start with the real presents soon, if I were you."

"I will, thanks," Rayth said. "What should the first one be?"

I crossed my arms over my chest. "You know this isn't an appropriate conversation, Gigi."

"She's learning," Asano said. "Let the girl learn."
