Or love.
That evening I crawled into bed. Having all the pressure of my magic taken away just to return it moments later was horrible. I didn't realize how badly everything hurt until I had a moment of relief.
I'd taken a hot bath and then drank some medicine. It didn't touch the pain that had sank it's claws into me.
I whimpered, the sheets too scratchy against my skin.
It was going to be a long night. I tried breathing through the pain, and when that failed, I decided to stay in bed to at least rest.
I rolled onto my stomach, magic pulsing inside me like a second heartbeat. I wanted Valens, the pressure of him laying on me.
Or Nikki. I shouldn't have lusted so much for someone I barely knew, but being around someone with energy like a walking thunderstorm was too much to ignore.
I focused on relaxing my toes, and then moving my awareness to my calves and knees. I stopped when I reached my core.
There was no relaxing my sex drive. I wanted someone in my bed.
I sat up, frustrated. Maybe I'd scent like an omega now. Maybe I'd go find where Nikki was staying and tell him what he could do with that smart mouth of his.
I let out a shaky breath, the world going gold around me.
Magic filtered into the room, slowly, and then faster still. I didn't think I was doing anything on purpose, but spirits danced around me anyway.
Great.
I wasn't even surprised when Kivai showed up. I had my excuse ready, but he just cocked his head. "I would ask if you were having spirit flashes so soon, but this actually isn't soon."
I crossed my arms over my chest. "Someday you're going to make sense when you talk to me."
He gestured around us. "You're a tsiea quera. A spirit medium. You can bend the world around you, it's part of what makes you so powerful."
"I was trying to meditate."
"Not with your energy so chaotic you're not." He looked me over. "Lie back and let me try to untangle some of this."
I was thinking of other things he could do while I laid back. I flopped back.
Kivai sat on the edge of the bed. "I'm going to hold my hand over each energy center in your body, see if there's something specific that's causing disruption."
I snorted. There was something specific, alright. An utter lack of dick in my life.
"What?" He grinned at me.
"Nothing. Proceed." I tried to relax, but I had to shift position every minute or so.
"Your energy has shifted." He started at the top of my head.
I felt the warmth of his hand.
"Priestess Aalina summoned a void to help me train."
"That's smart. In the absence of a real shaman that will help you get some basic skills safely."
"Yeah, that's what she said. I didn't realize the void would be a person."
Kivai smirked. "A hot man, by chance?"
I blushed, damn it. "I already have Valens, thank you very much."
