"I can handle it myself," Hashir said with a smirk. "Valens will just slow me down."

I sighed. They were being nice. "I know you need him. I'm just overwhelmed."

Nova didn't look happy either. "It will mostly be boring classes."

"You already had those classes."

"I'll probably take some magic classes to see how different my magic is now."

Hashir brushed his hand over her arm. "Don't let them push you around."

"I won't." Nova sighed. "It's beautiful here, at least."

I wanted to ask Valens where they were going, but the less we knew the better. We made small talk for a bit longer, but I was just delaying the inevitable.

Hashir sighed. "If we don't leave now, we won't make the first checkpoint."

"We have the mirrors." I pasted a smile on my face. Valens had given me the two-way mirror that morning. We would be able to have long distance conversations. Sometimes the magic wouldn't align, and the two-way glass wouldn’t work, but it was better than nothing.

Nova stood up. "We will be fine. Bored, but fine."

"Hopefully not too bored." Hashir winked. Nova rolled her eyes, but blushed.

Valens and I lingered as Nova and Hashir made their way out of the room.

I hugged him.

He squeezed me tight against him.

"I will come back as quick as I can," he said.

"I know. But those girls...I would want someone looking for me. Someone competent." I amended.

"I'm glad you think I'm competent." He chuckled.

"I'm going to miss those skills," I sighed.

He kissed me, taking my mouth with hunger. I kissed him back, pressing myself against him like I could imprint myself on his body.

He pulled away with a sigh. "If I don't leave now."

"I know." I sighed again. "Come back when you can. Or you know, just find them quickly."

Valens looked at me. "I know you're not happy with finding out you're an omega. But you know who you are. Find us an alpha while I'm gone."

I knew what he was doing. Giving me a purpose while he was away. Something more tangible than "learn how to omega"." I made a face. "How am I supposed to know who we want for a bond?"

Forever, is what I didn't say out loud.

Valens smiled. "You're not going to fall over the first alpha to flash his dimples at you, so trust your instincts. And if it takes some time, so be it."

I let out a breath. Time. I had time now that I was at the Sanctuary. "Okay."

I followed him out, meeting back up with Nova and Hashir. The Priestesses thanked them for their service, and wished them safe travels.

Nova and I watched them leave until they were just a dot on the road.

Nova linked her arm in mine. "Time to learn how to be good omegas."
