I cried out, another wave of orgasms washing over me. Valens thrust through his orgasm, and then my own. I grit my teeth, feeling every bit of his cock and fingers inside me.
I must have set him off because Valens grunted, and came again.
I collapsed, my face buried in the pillows. Valens was dead weight on top of me, and it was exactly what I needed to anchor me to this world after so many orgasms.
When I could breathe again, I grinned at him. "Maybe knotting won't be so bad."
At first light, we left the city.
We traveled fast. Hashir made jokes while I tried to keep everyone fed. Nova was quiet and Valens paced. I looked for Kivai, but the only spirits I saw were quick occasional glimpses of a spirit raven or mouse.
I dragged Valens off into the forest a few times for sex, but it wasn't the same as being in a room where we could indulge.
I told myself when we got to the Sanctuary, it would get better. I would have him in my room for days, and we would only surface for food.
Twice we stopped and pulled off the road to let other people pass.
As the miles passed, the weather turned balmy. The Omega Sanctuary was near the sea, and I was secretly excited to see it for the first time in my life.
The night before we were supposed to arrive, we turned on a main road. Valens and Hashir grew more tense. We should have been safer on a main road, but it made me feel more exposed.
We made camp. Hashir went into a nearby town, even though we didn't actually need supplies. He was looking for more information, and judging by his face when he came back, it wasn't good news.
"Another temple omega is missing." Hashir sat down next to Nova. She leaned into him, probably without realizing.
"They're keeping it really quiet. I had to call in favors to get even that."
Valens shared a look with Hashir.
Nova bit her lip. "If it was a few omegas that would be one thing."
"But it's not just one or two omegas." Hashir grimaced. "I have some contacts in the North. I'm going to get more information."
"The Swift Riders?" Valens asked. I took his hand in mine and squeezed it.
He brought my hand to his mouth and kissed it.
"Yes."
"If anyone has better information, it would be them." Valens muttered. "But it's a long journey."
Hashir smirked. "I've done it alone before."
"That was before the War of Attrition." Valens raised an eyebrow.
"I travel quick and light."
"Why not let the Royal Army handle it?"
"They couldn't find their nose if you handed them a map and compass." Nova shook her head. "They're good at protecting our borders but not much else. And with so much soldier activity, we probably need less...conventional methods."
I looked over at Valens. "It would be better if you went with Hashir, right?"
Valens's face fell. "I promised to stay with you."
I grimaced. I did not want to stay at the Sanctuary without him. But someone was kidnapping omegas.
I tried to imagine what would have happened to Nova and me if it wasn't Valens who brought us here. Would I have been a victim myself?
