I would never dally with another omega, but then, I'd never wanted another omega before Asano.
A loud crack of thunder hit. Shocked, I grabbed Asano and yanked him into the closet.
My heart pounded in my chest, and the copper taste of adrenaline overpowered the taste of Asano.
"Hey, hey, it's okay. Just some summer storms." Asano rubbed his hands on my chest, murmured into my chest.
I let out a shuddering breath. "Sorry." I raked a hand through my hair. "Sorry. I didn't know we were getting a storm."
So many years ago, but still the memory was as clear as day.
"It's not a real storm." Asano rubbed his chest against me, comforting me and himself. "Just the summer heat with the ocean breezes."
"Right." I captured his mouth. "Where were we?"
I pushed aside the dread at the prospect of a storm and focused on showering my omega with as much love as I could.
After all, I had a lot of time to make up for.
Later, I would see to this new omega, even if I didn't dare hope she would entertain the idea of becoming part of our little pack.
Afew more days of training, and I was ready for the gala to be here and over with. I had a few more days of waiting around, and if it wasn't for the bet with Rayth, I would have skipped it.
He wasn't interested in me. Just the thought of winning.
Still, judging by how my core clenched at the thought of him, I considered a fling. He was older than me, surely he had techniques I didn't know about.
My heat was approaching. I knew it, could feel it in my bones.
Panic rose at the thought, and I pushed it away. I had Asano to help me through it, at the very least. Maybe I'd ask him about his alpha.
The thought of going to Asano’s seaside house, spending the afternoon sleeping and having sex was too appealing to pass up. I sent a note to Aalina that I wouldn't be able to make it to my training session, and another one to Asano, letting him know I would be coming over in a little while.
Pleased with myself, I dressed in a pretty, gauze dress designed to float around me in the breeze. Maybe Asano and I could take a walk along the beach, holding hands.
Someone pounded on my door, and a moment later, opened it.
Nikki stalked inside. He stopped, staring at me and frowned. "What do you mean, you're not up for training?"
"I'm not...up for training?" I cocked my head. "I thought you would enjoy the afternoon off of babysitting duty."
"And now you're going on a date?" He gestured at me. "Wearing that?"
"I'm exhausted." Alright, I felt better around him. The aches receded and the burning pain in my neck and shoulders left. "I need a break."
"A deranged omega is trying to break into the Shrines, and you're taking a break." He stared at me.
I crossed my arms over my chest. "I'm also supposed to be finding an alpha."
Nikki flinched and looked away. "So you've found one."
"Not exactly. But maybe..." I trailed off as Nikki squinted at me.
"What do you mean, maybe?"
I shrugged. "I've got a new friend, but he's not an alpha. I'm going to ride over to his house this afternoon."
"By yourself."
