“Fucking hell,” Lachlan said, reading my murderous expression—he knew exactly where my mind was wandering. Into the darkest of shadows, where he liked to play.

But before I went there, I turned to Alessio. “Find him,” I growled, and he shot to his feet.

“On it,” he said, eager to put his skills to use. He hurried out of the room to his cave, and I turned to King.

“You have any objections to what I’m about to lay out next?”

“No. But be sure.” King’s eyes narrowed. “Once you go there, you can’t come back.”

I didn’t give a fuck.

Sure, Lachlan was usually the go-to for situations like this. But I was going to take out the trash this time around. Rupert had gone too far. My club was one thing. Kai was a whole other.

That fucker was going to pay, and I was going to cash the check.

“Too late.”

King inclined his head. “In that case, all I ask is that we take a moment to come up with a plan. Kai is an innocent. Let’s keep him that way.”

“Oui,” Benoit agreed. “And I kind of enjoy my freedom.”

That went without saying. There was no way I would ever put any of my brothers in danger. It was the number one oath we took when becoming kings. But if push came to shove, I would leave them free and clear and take Rupert out on my own.

One way or another, that fucker had seen his last sunrise.

“Okay, then.” I straightened. “The new plan needs guns.”

I didn’t bother waiting for a response. No one was going to talk me out of this. Not that they seemed to want to, judging by their reactions to the video.

I stormed out of the conference room and headed toward the armory.

“Question,” Benoit said, jogging to keep up with me. “Once we have the guns, then what?”

I hadn’t gotten that far yet. But one thing I did know: I wasn’t going to this party without a gift. And that gift was going to contain lead confetti.

“Okay, well, we can get to that part in a minute,” Benoit said.

“We can’t count out the possibility he has more than one security guard,” Shep said from behind us. “Lachlan’s guys should be able to give us more on that once they get to their posts.”

I grunted, not giving a shit how many assholes were there. I was ready to take on an entire fucking army if it meant getting Kai back.

“Alessio should be able to get a few good angles of his brownstone, too,” Theo said as I reached the armory.

I held my wrist up under the scanner and, when the bolts disengaged, yanked open the iron door.

“Will definitely need the masks and hoods too,” he continued. “That neighborhood will be fitted with every kind of security camera you can think of. Not sure if you all remember, but my face has kind of been plastered everywhere lately, thanks to my pain-in-the-ass brother.”

I stilled as I was reminded of my time in Monaco with Kai, and how happy he’d been to meet Theo. He’d be devastated if anything were to happen to His Royal Highness on account of him.

I turned to see all my brothers crowded just inside the entryway of the armory.

“Problem, Luc?” Lachlan said, the only one brave enough to step closer.

“I understand why you’re here. But if any of you want out, I can do this myself.”

The words were barely out of my mouth before every one of them rejected that offer outright, with King summing up their views with a simple “No.”

Shep squeezed my shoulder. “You’re always there for the rest of us. Let us be there for you.”
