I nodded against his neck as he continued to clean me up. “I am. I didn’t think I’d like the hot wax, but… We can definitely do that again.”
He ran his fingers through my hair, brushing it back from my face. “So curious.”
“Can I help that you make me that way?”
“That’s all you, beautiful boy.”
“I love it when you call me that.”
Lucien pressed a kiss to my temple. “I know.”
He held me for a long time, and I felt so wanted in his arms. His hands were always moving, massaging my sore muscles in a way that felt like a thank you.
I’d never had a thank you before.
A yawn escaped me and he laughed, sitting us both up.
“We can’t have any of that,” he said with a wink. “I’ve got to actually do some work while we’re here.”
“Oh, is this not your office? Whoops.”
I didn’t mind this detour at all, and it only got better when Lucien bent over to swipe his pants off the floor and that spectacular ass came into view.
“So this office of yours,” I said, biting my lip as indecent thoughts flooded my brain, “does it have a desk we can use?”

LUCIEN
AFTER GOING OUT for dinner Friday night, Kai and I went back home so I could get a jump on rebuilding plans for The Veil while he curled up with a book. We’d gone up to my office, gotten the fireplace going, since we both enjoyed the way it made a room instantly cozier, and then settled in—Kai with his laptop on the chaise, and me at the heavy ornate desk I’d imported from France, a hand-carved masterpiece with iron quatrefoils and gothic arches. It suited me, and this space, and even though I didn’t enjoy sitting behind a desk, if I had to, it better be one on this grand scale.
Tonight, it was necessary. I had proposals from my contractor spread across the surface, along with several ideas from designer friends of mine for how to make The Veil even hotter, since I wasn’t a fan of doing the same thing twice.
Thankfully, King had spearheaded the teardown of the building, since it’d been a total loss, and managed to accelerate the permits with his many connections. Things would hopefully be moving full steam ahead once I met with the insurance agency Monday, though I was still contemplating just what to do with the man who’d made the sad attempt at trying to bring me down.
I glanced over at Kai, who had the book so close to his face that I wondered if he could actually read it. He turned the page, clearly intrigued by what he was reading, and then did a double take when he saw me watching him.
“Oh, sorry. Did you say something?”
I shook my head. “Just looking at you. Something in there catch your interest?”
“This book is wild,” he said, inserting a bookmark. “I had no idea there were so many kinks out there. This is very…thorough.”
After our night at level five at Libertine, Kai had gone through my library and chosen a book with stories of BDSM and the D/S life. I found myself enjoying his reactions and commentary and wondering what, if anything, he’d be curious to try in the future.
He held up the book. “Is this how you learned about being a dom? It’s a pretty good instruction manual.”
“No, that came after, but I’m glad you’re finding it helpful.”
Kai set the book aside and stood up, stretching his arms overhead and showing off a sliver of olive skin along his hips. If he was trying to distract me, it was working.
“Can I ask you a question?” he said, strolling over to the desk.
“Nah.” I smirked. “Ask me anything.”
Kai narrowed his eyes and then stopped on the other side of the desk.“How did you get into all this? Owning sex clubs? This whole lifestyle? It’s not exactly something they teach in school, unless that’s what I missed out on the last couple of years.”
I leaned back in my chair and steepled my fingers in front of my lips. I’d wondered if and when Kai would get brave enough to ask about my…profession. It wasn’t exactly a normal nine-to-five job, but it was one that I’d always found fulfilling.
