“Does it always have to be in the past?” she asks, puzzling things out in her head. “Can he help people through their current traumas?”

“No it doesn’t have to be and he can,” I answer her questions. “He can also help recover lost or stolen memories.”

“How can someone steal somebody else's memories? That doesn’t make any sense,” she concludes.

“There are others out there like us,” I confess. “You’d be surprised at what some could do.”

“That’s scary, Weston. Families could be ripped apart if that particular gift is given to the wrong person.”

“It is, and you’re right on that aspect. Seeing as there are things that are still unknown to us, we have to be careful when we’re around people we don’t know.”

“In other words, this is a well-guarded secret,” she states. “Makes sense to me that any of your brothers who have these gifts and abilities would keep it on the down low, though. I mean, could you imagine if the damn government became aware there were people who could do that kind of stuff?”

“We’re on their radar, Foxy,” I admit. “But we keep ourselves protected and always have brothers around who have our backs.”

“I don’t like that,” she concedes. Then her eyes grow wide and she smacks my abs. “Weston! Is it possible that Canyon has these abilities too?”

“Possibly, but I won’t know until we have him with us and then I’ll have Wrecker check him out.” At her scolding look, I hold up my hand. “Wrecker has the ability to do what he did to us far more stealthily. Heneededus both to know he was there so we’d pay attention and feel what the other was going through during that particular time in our life.”

“Oh. Hmph. Well, I guess that makes sense. As long as he doesn’t freak Canyon out, I think we need to know because then, you can decide how best to approach him about what he’s able to do.”

As we snuggle into the blanket, both of us lost in thought, my phone pings, alerting me that I’ve received a message, and I reach over to my nightstand and pull it off my charging station, bringing it up to my face so I can read the text.

“RiffRaff and Jillian were approved as Canyon and Egypt’s foster parents. They’ll be released from the hospital this afternoon into their custody.”

“Everything is falling into place,” she whispers. “It’s as if fate has stepped in and decided to right all of our wrongs.”

“She’s just making sure that we find our way back on the path she had set forth for us,” I muse. “RiffRaff is going to gather some brothers to go grab the kids' possessions and start packing up the house. The club has been talking about purchasing a storage facility, and since there’s one we’ve been in negotiations with, I’m going to tell Dragon to make the deal and I’ll finance it. I want the kids to not ever have to worry about having access to theirs and their parents' things.”

“I’ll pitch in,” Foxy offers.

“How about this, Foxy. I’ll buy the business and you can take them shopping for anything they’ll need to restart their lives.”

“Shopping still gives you hives, huh?” she taunts me, snickering.

“I break out even thinking about it,” I say, shivering.

“Okay, it’s a deal. But that means I get to get them everything they need,” she insists.

“You drive a hard bargain, Foxy.” In my mind I’m rebutting with, “we’ll see”. There’s no way in hell I can sit back and not get my boy and new daughter something if they want it.

CHAPTER

SIXTEEN

Roxy

“I’m nervous,”I convey to the girls as we box up Mr. and Mrs. McAllister's bedroom. The kids’ rooms have already been done and taken to RiffRaff and Jillian’s house, then set up so they have something familiar to comfort them. The only things we didn’t send over were the clothes that were out of season.

“Everything is going to work out, Roxy,” Harper promises. “Wrecker says so, so I believe him.”

“Is he all seeing as well as being a therapist?” I ask, teasing my new friend.

“He knows things,” she replies, winking at me as she bumps my shoulder with hers. “He cares about his family and knew that you and Saber needed help past the bump in the road.”

“That was a roadblock, not a bump, complete with barbed wire and snarling dogs,” I giggle. “But I’m glad he stepped in, otherwise, we may have never found our way back to each other.”

“He tried giving y’all time to figure things out on your own, but with Canyon and Egypt in the picture, he didn’t think you two would get there without a little push.”
