“But what about your job?”

“Who needs a job? Someone once told me all you really need is love.” His warm breath fanned her cheek as he leaned closer.

She laughed. “That person was either really naive or really brilliant.”

“And also really beautiful. And someone I’d like very much to kiss right now if it’s okay.”

She looked deep into those dark brown eyes that had captured her from their first glance and gave a shy nod. That was all it took for him to swoop down and finally take her lips captive. She groaned at the sweetness, the slow, long melding of their mouths, the way he tasted like home.

Pulling away, he set his forehead against hers. “I missed that.”

“Me too.” She lifted up to peck him again. “Marshall, I don’t want you to give up your job for me. I know it’s important to you.”

“Shannon Baker, I’m not giving anything up. By moving across the country, I’m only gaining in the ways that matter.” He shrugged. “And actually, I worked it out with my boss. I’ll be transferring to our LA office. It’s not headquarters, and there aren’t any director positions, but that’s okay. I can’t stand to be too far from you.”

“I’m glad.” She snuggled against his chest, where she fit just perfectly. “And if we decide this is going somewhere and one of us needs to move, I’ll come to Los Angeles. I’m just declaring that right now.”

Because even though she loved Walker Beach, her future didn’t have to be here to be beautiful. In fact, there was beauty in being comfortable enough with who she was to spread her wings and explore the world beyond the boundaries she’d set for herself.

“You’d do that?” Voice ragged, he cleared his throat.

“Yes.” She angled her chin upward so he could see her eyes. See how serious she was. “I’m all in with you.”

“Thank you, Shannon.” He stroked her hair. “I don’t know where the road will take us, but I’m all in with you too.”

And, just as the prince would in any good fairytale, he sealed his declaration with a kiss.
