“How so?” I take up a spot on the couch, patting the cushion next to me. Lennox walks over but before he sits down, he tugs his sweatshirt over his head, leaving him standing before me in a baby-blue T-shirt and fucking hell, a skirt. “Damn, Lennox. I really like the skirt. Is it something you wear a lot?”
He walks over to the sofa and sits next to me. He raises his knee up, resting his arm on it. “No. In my own place and at Peaches, yes. But I haven’t worn them out in public. I changed into it when I left Peaches and hoped you would be okay with it.”
“Why wouldn’t I be okay with it?” My fingers find the hem of his skirt, toying with the pattern on the edge. The first time I saw Lennox in a skirt, something inside of me switched and now being so close to him in one again has me itching to put my hands all over him.
“This was an issue with some of my exes. The skirts, the panties. Some weren’t thrown off by it, but then I had a couple of them who told me to stop wearing them.” Lennox laughs, his eyes brightening. “It was like they didn’t know me at all. Thinking they could tell me what to wear. Those ones didn’t last very long.”
“Nick told me some stories about a few of them.”
“Yeah, of course the ones I introduced Nick to ended up being the worst. Like the one he caught cheating on me at the bar.”
“I remember that.”
I don’t bring it up, but I can recall that night vividly. Nick and I were downtown at a sports bar watching the game. A group of guys walked into the bar; loud, obnoxious, and clearly already drunk. Nick recognized one of the guys as Lennox’s boyfriend and went over to say hi. The loser must have forgotten he was Lennox’s brother because he started flirting with him, trying to get his phone number and take him back to his place. Nick started getting argumentative, bringing up Lennox and the guykept denying anything, saying he had no boyfriend. Nick was fuming, and we went back to our seats. We watched the guy leave with someone else not even fifteen minutes later, and Nick had to be the one to break it to Lennox that night.
“Yeah, that sucked. Probably one of the worst ones.” Lennox folds his knees under his ass, pulling a pillow onto his lap. “Or the guy who I met right after I started working at Peaches. He seemed really interested in me working there. So much so that he ended up showing up each night I worked. And at first, I thought it was sweet; like he was coming to see me, ya know? Until I found out he was propositioning the other employees there.”
“Fuck, Lennox.”
“Yeah, I’m pretty close to all the employees there. But, of course, he tried to get with Declan. Who,of course, laughed in his face and then came straight to me. But I swear the rest were fairly normal. We just didn’t vibe together at all. Few men can handle all of this.” He gestures to his body, and I use the opportunity to eye him slowly.
“I’ve been told I’m rather good at handling things. Or people,” I say with a wink.
“Question number 5?”
“Oh, we’re playing again?” I chuckle, loving this little game we’ve started. There’s a side to Lennox I never knew before. Around me he was always quiet and shy, and while he’s still like that, he’s also so much more. He’s sweet and sassy, and now that I’ve gotten to know him better, he’s not scared to say what’s on his mind.
“If you’re down.”
“Always.”
“How are you so comfortable with your attraction to me? With it being so new to you, I don’t want to push, but you sayor do certain things, and I want to make sure we’re doing this right.”
“I’m a pretty simple guy. Once I realized I was attracted to you, I was all in. That’s it. I don’t second-guess myself or the decisions I make. It’s probably why I’m so go with the flow. If I want something, I take it.” So far, I haven’t gotten in trouble with that in my life, so I’m hoping it doesn’t let me down now.
“Take it, huh?”
“Within reason. But one kiss from you and I knew I needed more.”
“That simple?”
I shrug. “That simple. Now, my turn. Question number 5. It’s late, and I really wouldn’t feel comfortable with you being on the road. Would you spend the night? We don’t have to share a bed, I can take the couch again but?—”
“Yes.”
“That simple?” I smirk, grabbing his hand and interlocking our fingers. His hand fits so perfectly in mine and I can’t help but stare at them together.
“That simple,” he tosses my words back at me and I smile. Lennox gets up on his knees and makes his way toward my lap. He straddles me, sifting his hands through my hair. His touch lights up every nerve in my body, and I tremble. I reach around him, placing my palms on his hips.
“You look really sexy in a skirt, Lennox. I want to explore all of you.”
“Do it,” he whispers, leaning down and kissing me.
He grinds down subtly, but enough for me to feel the friction behind my jeans.
“Question number 6—can I touch your ass?”
“Please do,” he moans, attacking my mouth again.
