Something about the action made my guts clench. She was getting to me too.

I didn’t like it.

I dropped her braid back onto her shoulder and sat back in my chair, my drink in hand.

“Roman and Renzo have taken a liking to you,” I commented.

She let out a soft scoff. I smiled at the motion and sat forward, placing my drink on the small table next to my chair.

“That upsets you. Confuses you,” I said, eyeing her as she continued to stare at the floor. “Yes?”

“Yes,” she answered.

“It’s because they treated you so well only to seemingly betray you when upset.”

“Yes,” she said thickly.

“You understand this is simply our nature, correct?”

“Yes.” She balled her hands into fists again.

I smiled at that.

“Tell me, Misery, what did you hope would happen here?”

She said nothing, her bottom lip jutted out.

“Look at me,” I called out.

She slowly lifted her head and stared me down. She had the prettiest eyes. Green. Flecks of gold. Long, thick lashes.

“Answer the question.”

“I only want to go home.”

I nodded and took my drink back and sipped at it.

“From my understanding, home is terrible for you. Your father has abused you your entire life with him, no?”

She exhaled and nodded miserably.

“Why do you wish to return to that?”

She chewed her bottom lip, contemplating my question. My cock jerked to life in my pants. I shifted, wondering why the fuck that was happening.

“Misery? Tell me,” I said, finishing my second drink and hoping I’d end up with whiskey dick so she wouldn’t see the affect she had on me without doing a damn thing. I poured a third.

“I-I don’t know,” she finally said.

“You do,” I pressed.

She let out a soft sigh and squeezed her eyelids closed for a moment before opening them and speaking.

“I was trying to have a better life. I was graduating from college this year. My-My plan was to leave and start a life far away from my father.”

I absorbed her words, relating more to them than she knew.

“You were far away already at another college and came back.”
