Page 44 of Sweet Misery

“It’s been one week with you,” I choked out. “One week out of a lifetime. Not even two months with the four of you?—”

He moved so he was over me, his blue-gray eyes boring in to mine.

“Behave and have more?—”

“I want to go home.”

His lip twitched as he stared down at me.

“Never. I’ll kill you before I let you leave.”

More tears poured out at his words. I tried to shove him away, but he pinned my arms over my head after a brief struggle.

“Mm, you were doing so good,” he said, his gaze raking over my face. “How disappointing. I guess I’ll have to teach you, huh, kitten?”

I let out a shriek as he moved off the bed, hauling me with him. I tried to put the brakes on, but he only laughed as he pulled me to the door and tugged me downstairs. We didn’t stop until we’d reached the living room.

Massimo, Sever, and Roe came in from outside looking windswept.

Knowing I was already in trouble, I glared at the trio, not bothering to go to my knees.

“What’s going on?” Massimo demanded in his deep voice.

“She wants to go home. We’re apparently not worth staying with,” Renzo said.

I glared at him. I’d never said that. I’d simply said I wanted to go home. Being a prisoner wasn’t what I had planned for my life.

“I see.” Massimo’s gaze skirted over me.

“I figured maybe you should talk some sense into her,” Renzo continued, pushing me forward.

“I can put some sense into her,” Roman chuckled, moving to stand next to me. He planted a quick kiss on my cheek. The simple, sweet gesture made my heart jolt. It also confused me. I cast a quick look to Sever who glowered back at me.

Massimo continued to stare me down.

“Why are you not on your knees?”

I glared at him, grinding my teeth.

He cocked his head at me before looking to Renzo and Roman who were both now behind me.

I didn’t know what was wrong with me. One minute I was enjoying myself and the next I was overwhelmed by the idea of never leaving here.

I did no crime, so to be sentenced to a lifetime of misery seemed cruel and unusual. All because my prick of a father wanted to use me one last time.

“Knees. Now.” Massimo pointed to the floor.

I balled my hands into tight fists.

“No. Let me go.”

Massimo sighed and looked to the ceiling. I glanced past him to see Sever frown and take a step forward. The twins shifted away from me from behind.

Massimo struck like a snake.

I didn’t even get the scream out before his hand was wrapped tightly around my throat and he was lifting me off my feet like I was light as a feather. I clawed at his wrist and arm, trying to break free, but the look in his gray eyes suggested I was fighting a losing battle.

“You don’t tell me no,” he snarled at me, everything about that composed demeanor changing.
