“You right; I don’t know you like that, but from what I do know, and I’ve seen so far, you’re a laid-back ass female who is about her business. You told me that nigga cheated. Unless you some crazy chick behind closed doors, I don’t understand why he could let someone like you go.”
Kupid lifted her shoulders and dropped them. “All men must cheat.” She spun on her heels and faced me, placing her cup on the desk. “I saw the pictures of you and Jania.”
I chortled and was now annoyed when Jania’s name was brought up.
“One, don’t put me in the category of all men cheat shit. I watched my dad love my mama for years, and I knew as a teenager that’s what the fuck I wanted too. Yeah, I had females here and there as a single nigga. And two, don’t believe everything you see. Jania was pushing up on me, and I had to let shorty down, and someone had to have been outside my trailer taking pictures.”
“Do you have a good relationship with your parents?” Kupid asked. She sat down in her chair, scooting up to the desk, placing her elbows on it and her chin in her hands.
“What? The best. We grew up rough, but they always put me first. They always made sure I had what I needed, so now that I’m up, I send them to see the world on vacations as much as possible. Sometimes I join them, but it’s been a while since I did that.” I ran my hands down my face.
“You don’t have time for yourself?”
“Maaan, I think it’s been almost a year since I had time for myself. I think the last vacation was in Paris, and that was in April,” I told her. I scratched my head. “Yeah, April. I’ve been on go since.”
“Take a spontaneous trip. Like, before you start the tour. Even if it’s for two or three days, do something away from music.”
Kupid sat back, and I thought about what she had just said. A spontaneous trip didn’t sound bad at all…but there was a twist.
“Come with me,” I threw out.
kupid love
. . .
I turnedmy head as if I didn’t hear Crown correctly.
“Come again?”
He smiled. The diamonds in his mouth were gone, and his pretty pearly white teeth were visible.
“You heard me, Kupid.” Pushing off the wall, Crown started toward me. My heart began to beat harder and faster. “You can use a lil’ getaway too, so wassup? You down to be…spontaneous?” Both of his brows lifted as he waited for my response.
My mouth opened, but nothing escaped. I was at a loss for words. Being invited on a trip with Crown was not on my bingo card.
“Who… who else is being invited on this trip?”
Crown laughed. “Just us. I mean, it was your idea.”
My head shook. “Yeah, but for…for you, not me!”
Moving some papers on my desk, Crown sat down on it. I rolled the chair back, avoiding him from being so close to me.
“Name a place.”
“No, I’m not —”
“Name a place, Kupid.” His voice was stern this time. I let out an agitated sigh.
“The Bahamas,” I uttered. “For you.”
“And you too.” Crown stood and sauntered toward the door. I loved his walk, actually. Crown was slightly bowlegged and walked as if… I closed my eyes and bit down on my lip. My eyes popped back open, realizing what he’d just said, and those thoughts had no business there.
“No. No. No. Just you, Crown Heart. I’ll go on a vacation…mmmm… maybe later this year. I would love to do a girl’s trip with Asia or whatever,” I rambled but was met with the door shutting. My jaw dropped, but hopefully, Crown heard me loud and clear.
Wow, Kupid. I see that you’ve moved to another city and moved on quickly. You’ve been in the blogs with that rapping nigga Crown Heart. That’s some bullshit. You couldn’t even give me another chance to fix things. That’s fucked up for real. I love you, Kupid. Damn. I’ve been trying to apologize, but you’ve blocked me on EVERYTHING! Baby, tell me what I have to do to win you back! I’ll do it, Kupid. I love you, and I’m sorry for cheating.
Shawn.
