Darius attempted to pull his cock out of the warm heaven, but Bale stopped him. He suctioned his mouth over the sensitive head. Darius whined as he met Bale’s fire-bright eyes.

Bale popped off briefly to speak. “One more time, sweetheart. Come in my mouth. Relax and allow me to do the work.”

Darius shook his head. He wasn’t sure if he had the strength to continue. His legs were like Jell-O, and the chair was making the worst creaky noises.

Bale arched one eyebrow before taking Darius down once more. He grasped the shaft of Darius’s cock and gave it a gentle tug before sucking hard on the flared head. Darius swore creatively as he slid past the sharp incisors. The gentle drag against his skin lit the fire, and Darius came explosively in Bale’s mouth. Darius tried to wrestle away, but Bale held on and swallowed every bit of come possible. Bale released Darius gently before allowing Darius to collapse in Bale’s lap.

Darius caressed Bale’s face with reverence. He wiped away a bit of come that had managed to escape and sniffed it experimentally before sticking it in his mouth. Bale growled low and kissed Darius hard, his tongue sweeping in and licking everywhere.

Darius pulled back before dropping his head on Bale’s shoulder, exhausted. “Fuck.”

“Yeah.” Bale kissed his forehead hard and made the chair recline. Darius curled up in Bale’s arms and tried to think.

“What was that?”

“An adventure?” Bale nuzzled his cheek. “Was it okay?”

“Mind-blowing.” Darius lost his ability to speak in a coherent way. His mind was fuzzy, and he wanted to do was sleep.

“You napping on me, beloved?” Bale murmured as he stroked Darius’s arm.

The cold air against his sweaty chest made Darius shiver and burrow deep into Bale’s warmth. “No, ‘course not.”

“Mmhmm.” Bale kissed him lightly again as though he couldn’t stop. “I am. Could just stay here in the chair all night.”

“Too cold.” Darius forced his eyes open and met Bale’s sleepy gaze and accepted that he had to be the adult. “Dammit, come on.”

With wobbly legs, Darius stood and held out a hand for Bale to take. Bale blinked at him before standing easily.

His erection was prominent under his own pants, and Darius had a twinge of guilt for not reciprocating, but with how the events happened, he wasn’t sure he could have done anything.

“Bale.”

“Don’t worry about it.” Bale shook his head before hugging Darius. “Stop worrying. Go up to bed, and I’ll shut everything off down here.”

Darius growled and did his own checks. It was his house, and if he couldn’t help Bale with his hard-on, then he was going to fucking make sure his house was safe.

Once everything was done, he stomped upstairs with Bale slowly coming up behind him. Darius wasn’t sure why he was upset, just that he was.

Bloody Bale.

ChapterTwenty-Eight

Bale glared at Darius as Darius tried to explain that sitting outside on fricking frozen rock was okay. It had been a few days since their breakthrough.

“No, Darius. Listen to me. That rock isn’t meant to be used in the winter. You’re going to freeze your ass off for nothing. You can do your damned meditation inside. I know you can. So, sit in the bloody living room with a fire and concentrate that way.”

“It’s not the same. I don’t have that connection.” Darius crossed his arms and shook his head. “I need—”

“Of course, it’s not the same. It’s a different fucking element. Explore your fucking power. For fuck's sake.” Bale shoved his fingers through his hair as he fought for patience.

Darius blinked at him slowly as realization dawned. Seeing the lightbulb moment hit was a relief. Trying not to fight with Darius had become a challenge over the past few days.

It was likely cabin fever stirring things up. Darius had taken Hawk’s suggestion to heart. He refused to go to Granite. Isaac delivered groceries for them and shared what was happening and how people felt.

Hakko and Poe were settling in at the museum together. There hadn’t been any acknowledgement from the mayor or Sawyer since. And when Isaac mentioned Poe, Darius brightened up considerably. Darius completely shut down when Isaac spoke of others. Isaac seemed unable to break through to Darius. Having someone else with the same stumbling block with Darius made Bale feel a bit better about his own failures.

“Will you use the fire? Just for today?” Bale asked, almost pleading.
