“Will do. Be careful, Mason. He’s coming after all of us.”

I disconnect and once the text comes through, I step outside and call it. I’m not in the mood for beating around the bush.

“I knew you would call.”

“Am I that predictable?”

Collin laughs. “You never were spontaneous.”

“Your guy is dead.”

“A casualty of war. You know what that is, don’t you, little brother? Carson. Lina. That precious unborn baby. Funny how no one cares about the club whores who burned to death.”

“Your fight is with me. Not the club.”

“That’s where you’re wrong. Once I found out about Charlie,my son, I decided I need to leave him the legacy you’ve tried to take from me.”

“Over my dead body.”

“Works for me. Oh, by the way, tell Jake I said congrats on the baby. Now that I’m a father, I understand why he didn’t want to die.”

The dial tone sounds in my ear. I rush back inside and find Davina. “We have to shut it down.”

“What? We have another hour before closing.”

“Shut it down!”

I’m not leaving here without her. There’s no telling what I’m about to walk into at the clubhouse and I want her by my side.

It doesn’t take long for us to settle up with patrons and close down The Haven. Hunter and Dash arrive and Mason ensures the other Harlots are good to go before we climb onto his bike. I clutch his waist tightly as he speeds off.

When we arrive at the clubhouse, everything appears to be fine. The place certainly isn’t burning down, but something happened or we wouldn’t be here.

“Jake!” Mason yells as we walk inside. “Bishop!”

“Yeah?” Jake answers from the sofa and Bishop asks, “What the hell is going on?”

Mason runs a hand through his hair and exhales. “I thought…never mind.”

“Where’s Charlie?” I ask, rushing down the hall. “Charlie!”

“He’s asleep, sis,” Bishop answers.

I check the room we usually stay in but he’s not there. “Where? Where is he?”

I push open the door to the next room. Empty. “Charlie! Charlie!”

He’s gone. My biggest fear is coming true. My son is gone. And a fucking monster took him from me.

My son is a brave young man. He doesn’t beg to go home. Doesn’t make empty threats. No, he stands beside Marco and eyes me curiously. Mason let his guard down when he allowed two prospects to pledge the club. He wanted to increase his numbers. Lucky me.
