Without hesitation, I reply, “Absolutely.”

He pulls me in closer, whispering he loves me. I say it back.

“Do you trust me?” I ask. His response is the same.

Iinspect the shipment of guns again. My gut tells me they’re fine. That Collin is trying to mindfuck me into thinking he tampered with them. If I’m wrong though…

“I say we move them,” Hunter suggests. “We can’t afford not to.”

“And if they’ve been fucked with? Then, what?” Munsey asks.

“The Ravens will be our enemy,” Jake answers. “But I’m with Hunter. We need this revenue. My family needs the revenue.”

He made the official announcement of Skylar’s pregnancy at the beginning of the meeting. Everyone congratulated him but there were also those underlying negative thoughts about whether it’s the right timing or not.

“I agree. We need to move them. We’ve held them long enough. Munsey, take Taj with you and head out first thing in the morning and get them delivered.”

“I’m not leaving Taylor,” Munsey argues.

“Fine. Take her. She’s your old lady, your responsibility. Just get the job done. Don’t follow our usual route either. Change it up.”

“We don’t have anyone on our payroll on alternate routes. If we get pulled over or go through a road block, we’re fucked.”

“I’ll put the word out to our fellow chapters in the area that you’re coming through. They’ll be on the lookout.”

“I want to help.” The voice catches me off guard.

“The hell you do,” Bishop argues.

“Charlie, what are you doing here, kid?” I ask, walking over to him.

“I’m a Bastard. I want to help.”

I tell the guys that church is over despite Bishop’s angry glare, and urge Charlie toward the table. Only members sit at this table. Not even prospects. His face is filled with awe as he sits.

“What’s your proposal?”

Charlie shrugs. “I can kill The Harvester.”

I lean forward, propping my elbows on the table. “How would you do that?”

“I’m smart. I pay attention. He’s your brother, right?”

“Yeah. He’s my brother.”

“And my mom knows him, too?”

I nod in response.

“That’s why you want to use her as bait.” Damn, this kid does pay attention. “Is he my dad?”

My breath catches. “That’s a question to ask your mom.”

“I’m asking you,” he says and I can’t help but respect the kid.
