I want to say,‘not enough of you, drop the towel’but I don’t. “Nothing,” I croak instead.

“Liar.” He crosses his arms over his wide chest as he looks down at me where I sit on the bed.

I open and close my mouth a couple of times as I try to find the words to lie to him about how Iwasn’tlying, but words aren’t forming.

Luckily, he speaks first. “What are you working on? Did you contact your friend?”

I flash the screen around quickly so he can see I’m on a video chat, “Yeah, he’s doing what I asked him to do.”

He quirks an eyebrow at me. “What exactly did you ask him to do?”

“We’re stealing her parents’ money. But more importantly, uhm, Winslow, why are you with a sexy half-naked man?” Whisper’s voice comes from the laptop speakers. Did I mention that Whisper bats for the other team?

My eyes dart between the screen and Ranger, and would you believe me when I say I about lose my shit when I look at Ranger? Because guess what?

He’s smiling.

Yeah, like showing teeth and everything.Smiling. I didn’t think he knew how.

And HOLY SHIT. The man hasdimples.

That’s it. I’m done for.

And I’m staring at him again, but not at his very sexy body, but at his perfect fucking smile.

“Arizona, I think your friend is talking to you,” Ranger reminds me, cutting into the staring contest I was having with his lips…again.

“Oh right. Sorry, can you repeat that?” I tell Whisper once I finally drag my eyes away from the naked wolf shifter across from me.

“I put the ten million into the account I made for you. I’ll overnight the debit cards and account login info to you so you don’t have to go into a bank. Your parents may have faked your death for the media, but they’re still looking for you. They know if you come back, it will wreak havoc on their political aspirations.” Whisper types a few new things into his computer, his fingers fly across the keyboard at a speed I can’t believe is possible. “I already have Conrad doing a rush job on a new driver’s license, birth certificate, and passport. I’ll overnight those as well.” Conrad is his contact who makes new identities for people. He’s the best in the business.

“Do you need an address to send it all to?” I ask him.

“No. I set up a PO box for you in whatever backwoods town you’re in right now. Why are you in Montana?”

Ranger’s head whips around in our direction as he digs through the dresser for new clothes. “How does he know where you are?”

“There isn’t much I don’t know, sweetheart,” Whisper answers him, a coy smile on his face. “I mean, other than why my little Winslow is with you.”

“A mutual friend brought us together,” I say quickly. It’s not exactly a lie.

“Mmmhmm, whatever. I don’t care where you’re at, as long as you’re safe and away from those fucking people you call‘family’.” He pauses in whatever he’s typing to make air quotes with his fingers. “I’m seriously this close to leaking the security footage I stole from your house from the night that bitch tied—”

“Whisper!” I cut him off, shaking my head sternly. I subtly nod my head in the direction of Ranger and raise my finger to my mouth, motioning for him to be quiet.

“What? All I’m saying is if you want to crush your dad’s chances of being governor, it’s an excellent way to do it.” He shrugs his shoulders.

I can feel Ranger’s eyes on me, but I don’t acknowledge him. “We’ll call that plan Z.” I hope it never gets that far. “For now, I just need the money, but don’t send me all of it. Can you donate three million of it to the same charities as we did last time weliberatedsome money from my vile parents?”

“I sure can.” Whisper nods his head, his black messy hair falls forward on his forehead as he does. “Anything else?”

I think about it for a second and something dawns on me. “Can you please hack into the bus station in Rhode Island, the one right outside of Providence? I took a bus to escape town, I’m sure the parental units will have people checking there.”

“I’ll delete the footage and I’ll make sure the station has zero evidence of you buying a ticket.”

“Thank you.”

“Reach out if you need anything else, love. And be safe. You’ve been in enough trouble, don’t you think?”
