Damon pressed her against the door and shoved his knee between her legs. Every inch of his hard length pressed into her lower belly, making her panties wet with want. She arched her hips and ground her core against him, silently pleading for more. Like a man staking his claim, Damon dragged a possessive hand over the swell of her breasts, and she gasped as desire thudded throughout her groin.

Suddenly, he lifted his head, and she released a soft whimper of disapproval. She wanted more. Her body ached with need, and between her thighs throbbed with hunger.

Damon looked down at her with dark eyes, his labored breathing matching hers. “I better go now,” he whispered huskily.

Audra bit her bottom lip. “Okay,” she said, trying hard not to pout. What she really wanted was to sneak him upstairs and let him pound her through the mattress.

He dropped a quick kiss to her mouth, and she pressed her forehead against his. She couldn’t remember ever feeling likethis, or having this…ache, thisneed, to be close to a man. It was consuming her.

“Have a good night, beautiful.” He whispered the words, his warm breath brushing her swollen lips.

Don’t leave, she wanted to beg. Instead, she said, “You too.”

He waited until she went inside before descending the stairs to the car. Audra watched through the window as the vehicle disappeared down the drive.

Touching her throbbing mouth, she relived the scrape of his beard on her skin and the intensity of the kiss.

Oh boy.

She was falling for him—completely and undeniably, without a shred of resistance.

Chapter Eleven

“How are things?” Claudia hung over the wall of Audra’s cubicle, one eyebrow arched in inquiry.

Audra didn’t have to ask what she meant. She knew right away that Claudia was inquiring about Damon. “Before I answer, how are things with you and Kent?”

Claudia blushed, looking very pleased with herself. “As you know, he’s been very attentive ever since he thought he would lose me to a baseball player. That really shook him up, and our relationship has blossomed ever since. I can’t complain. He bought me this.” She extended a hand to show off a shimmering tennis bracelet.

“That’s gorgeous. What was the occasion?” Audra asked.

“No occasion. He just wanted to surprise me.”

“Look at you,” Audra said.

Claudia giggled happily. “I can’t stop smiling. I really took a risk because you know how much I love that man, but I couldn’t continue with the way our relationship was going. He wasn’t considerate of my feelings. Now our whole relationship has changed. I guess I had to let him know what I’d put up with and what I wouldn’t, and that made him straighten up.”

“I’m happy for you.”

“Thank you,” Claudia said with heartfelt appreciation. “Now, what’s going on with you and Damon?”

“So far, so good.” The past few weeks had been magical as they grew closer together.

“So he’s nice and good to you?”

“Yes.”

“No drama?”

“No drama,” Audra confirmed.

Claudia lowered her voice. “Great in the sack?”

Audra paused. “We haven’t…”

Claudia’s eyes widened. “What? You’ve been seeing each other for almost two months now, right?”

Audra nodded. “We’re taking things slow.”
