I don’t need any more encouragement.

I break apart, safe knowing that he’ll be there to catch all the pieces as my orgasm rips through me, legs quivering with my release. His growl when he follows is a balm to my soul.

Peace of mind for my fears.

And I know it’ll be the sound I replay most when I watch the recording later.

EPILOGUE

CHAOS

Dust kicksup in the yard as I drop to a seat beside Fang on the porch. Selena bends over one of the three vegetable patches she nagged for us to put in alongside the new barn, a short T-shirt riding over her back as she stretches to put a seedling into its new home. I frown at Darko, standing behind her with the tray of whatever the fuck the little green things are, watching the way her shirt rides up also.

Need to have a conversation with her about stringing the brothers along. I’m not stupid. She’s a teenager, soon to be a woman, and living amongst a bunch of men likely has its perks. But there’s no way in hell any one of these fucks is getting his hands on her.

She can find herself a guy who won’t be on a first-name basis with the local sheriff and who is guaranteed to be home every night for dinner after his regular nine-to-five job.

She’s seen enough of this bullshit for a lifetime already.

“You keep lookin’ at him like that, and he might burst into flames,” Fang murmurs into the neck of his beer.

“How do you know that ain’t the plan?” It’s been a month since we rode down to Oklahoma to be there for Vanessa, andto say I’m itching for confrontation is an understatement. Idle hands and all that.

“Who’s on the chopping block today?” Jinx asks, climbing the porch steps.

“Chaos thinks he can stop the young guns from noticing his sister is a woman,” Fang teases.

“She’s a goddamn girl, still,” I snap, fists tapping my thighs. “Hey!”

Heads turn in the yard at the sound of my voice.

“She doesn’t need you standin’ there like a fucking pool boy, Darko! Ain’t you got jobs you’re supposed to be doing?” Inside. On a goddamn computer or some shit.

He says something to Selena and then sets the tray of seedlings on the ground.

My baby sister glares daggers at me as he crosses the yard.

“Sorry, pres.”

“Fuckin’ will be,” I murmur under my breath, eyeballing the asshole until he goes inside.

The property comes along well. We moved in two days after returning from Oklahoma, but tonight is the first night since the barn was finished a week ago that we’ve been able to get everyone together for a housewarming. Tap rides up with a handful of brothers from the Fallen Aces Nebraska clubhouse—a sign of goodwill between our clubs. I get the feeling I’ll see a lot more of him since our stay in Oklahoma.

Evelyn sure seemed taken with him.

I tap my fingertips against my knees, staring down the driveway.

“Fuck’s sake, man,” Jinx groans, leaning against the porch rail with his arms folded. “Just pull your phone out and see what she’s doing already.”

I flip him the middle finger. Assholes are used to it by now: my need to know she’s okay. Safe. Still with me.

“I did. She left her house already.”

“Then…” He leans back, head turned to look toward the road. “She should be showing up in five, four, three… And, there she is.” He grins, pushing off the rail to nudge me in the shin with his boot.

“Fuck you both,” I say, elbowing Fang as he tries to take a drink to disguise his smile. “One day you’ll get it.”

“Pretty sure he already does.” Fang tips his bottle toward Jinx, who frowns at him as though to say,“Shut up.”
