“Making sure I’m not dreaming.” I laugh nervously. “Because this feels too good to be real.”
His expression turns serious. “Can I ask you something personal?”
“More personal than me telling you I want your knot?”
“We’ll get to that, but first. How did you handle your omega needs before?”
“Oh, that’s easy. There’s this club called Club Midnight. It’s for alphas and omegas to hook up. No strings attached dating. So, whenever I needed an alpha fix, I always went there. What about you?”
“I just cope.” He shrugs, looking away. “Nobody wants to see my body.”
We stare at each other; the air charged between us. Screw it. The old Freya would go for what she wants.
“I want to see you naked, but only when you’re ready.” How many times do I have to tell him before I get on my hands and knees and beg?
He points to his jaw and neck. “Nobody wants to kiss this. And without clothes, it’s worse.”
“Now, where did that alpha go? The one who I was just talking to earlier?”
“He’s trying to come out.”
I lean forward, pressing my lips to his jaw. “Let him. And this feels fine to me.” I run my tongue along his scars. “Delicious too.”
The moment stretches between us before he grabs me and presses a hard kiss on my mouth, then he pulls back, his eyes searching my face before he says, “If I fuck you, you know you’ll never get rid of me.”
“Then fuck me. Because I don’t want you to go anywhere.”

I check the addressone more time.
Freya Rose lives in a sketchy part of town. No doubt still expensive, but her apartment complex is old and if she is our omega, there is no way she is staying here another night.
I drum my fingers on the steering wheel, checking my watch again. Two hours until my shift starts at the hospital. The things I do for my pack.
I can’t place it but there is something about this omega that nags at me. Most would kill to have an omega like Freya in their pack. She’s gorgeous, successful, and from what I remember of our hospital visits, quick-witted and charming.
Her curves alone would drive any alpha wild. Add in her baking skills, and that she wants a family, she could have alphas lined up around the block.
Yet here she is, living in this run-down building with a broken elevator, climbing six flights while caring for a newborn. I’d scaled those stairs myself earlier, hoping to catch her at home.
My phone buzzes.Thorne.
“Have you seen Zane? His commander called asking if he’s okay. Called in sick today.”
“Haven’t seen him...” I trail off as movement catches my eye. A smile spreads across my face. “Well, correction. I hadn’t seen him until two seconds ago.”
“Thank fuck. Is he okay?”
“His arm is around the omega.”
“What the hell,” Thorne growls.
“Think about it,” I say, watching Zane guide Freya toward my car, his hand protectively wrapped around her. “When was the last time you saw him this happy? He’s absolutely besotted with her. She’s the reason he called in sick. We need her in our home, Thorne. She’s perfect.”
“Perfect? A single mother omega?”
