Releasing him from my mouth, I drop my head to his thigh and place a kiss on his spent cock.

He sighs. “Thank you.”

I look up at him, surprised. “No one’s ever thanked me for sex before.”

“Then you’re doing it wrong.”

“Are you saying I don’t give good head?”

“No, baby,” he smooths a palm over my cheek, “that was the best head of my life. You’re just doing it with the wrong people. That was a gift, and I’m grateful.”

I kiss his thigh, then crawl over his body and kiss his lips. We make out languidly for a few minutes before he says, “Come on, let’s get cleaned up and see what’s taking our girl so long.”

But when we get to the bathroom, Sora’s not there. Her clothes from last night are still on the floor, but her phone is gone. The happy hormones I was riding vanish in an instant.

“She wouldn’t just leave without telling us.”

“Maybe someone saw her,” he suggests.

We both pull on sweat pants and hurry out of the apartment, up to the roof. Neither of the guards saw her, but they were watching the sky for signs of the Ruby Diamond Horde, so they couldn’t say for sure if she left on foot or not.

My worry increases with each moment. I should have realized she was gone sooner. I shouldn’t have gotten so caught up in Kyro. My girl is on her own and there’s another horde in town who wants to stop us from mating.

Kyro curses, and smoke pours from his nostrils as we rushback down the stairs. He’s losing it.

“Maybe she went to work?” I suggest, swinging open the door to his apartment and going for my phone. “I’ll call her. You call the school.”

I grab my phone and dial Sora. It rings three times before going to voicemail.

“No answer.”

Kyro ignores me, speaking into the phone while he paces. He catches my eye and shakes his head. When he hangs up, he says, “She called in and took the rest of the week off.”

“Good for her,” I say, proud of our girl. Since I spent a fair amount of the last year basically stalking her, I know taking time off isn’t easy for her. In fact, I don’t think she’s ever done it before.

Kyro just glares at me. “Where the fuck is she?”

We call Finley and Jeslyn next. Then pound on doors to see if anyone else in the Silver Horde saw her leave. No one in the building saw her. A few people don’t answer their doors, but it’s late enough in the morning that they’re probably already at work.

We’re just about to fly to her apartment when we hear a familiar laugh. We run down the hall and find herin the stairwell with Otto. Kyro growls and throws his arms around her. “Don’t ever fucking do that again!”

Our beautiful girl juts out her chin, looks him straight in the eye, and says, “I’ll go to the grocery store if I want to go to the grocery store. You can’t suffocate me, Kyro, or this won’t work.”

I’m so damn proud of her. But she also needs to understand how dangerous that was. “He’s not trying to be controlling, lovely. We were just scared. Especially with everything going on.” I wrap my arms around them both and kiss her temple. “Next time, could you let us know where you’re going?”

“Of course.” She runs her hand over Kyro’s hair as he buries his face in her neck. His shoulders shake and he sucks in a breath. “I’m okay, Ky. Otto was with me, so I wouldn’t be alone, and we didn’t go far. I’m okay.”

He nods but doesn’t pull away.

“You’re actually suffocating me for real, baby.” She half laughs, gasping for breath.

Kyro loosens his grip just enough to throw her over his shoulder, caveman style. She lets out an adorable little squeak as Ky heads back up the stairs to his place. I race after them, calling over my shoulder, “Thanks for looking out for her, Otto.”

“Yeah, thank you!” Sora adds.

Otto chuckles.

Kyro doesn’t stop until he throws Sora down on the bed. He punishes her with a thorough fucking, one that has us all screaming in pleasure. And then he holds us both tight, while we reassure him we’re all okay. As much as she doesn’t want to be smothered, I don’t think Sora minds this protective side of our mate one bit.
